It will be interesting if Pete Rose gets in one day by the veterans committee. No matter what happens, no one can deny Pete Rose was one of the best who ever played the game and I'm happy I had the chance to see him play during the 70's days when I was a kid.

Sort of. Only a Pete Rose likes to slide in the dirt and gamble.

I think MLB needs a new logo for their Hall of Fame website as they need to add this to it. "preserving the integrity of MLB" to it. That will apply to the Roses, McGwire, Bonds, Roger and similar type players with problems image

The hall has every right to keep Pete out of the HOF, but my feeling until you allow Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose into the hall, its not complete.
  • I really think there's a difference between Rose and Jackson, who's transgressions had no bearing on their baseball performance, and Bonds/McGwire etc. that did. If Bonds ever gets into the hall, they better let Rose and Jackson in or I will have ZERO respect for the HOF.
  • "preserving the integrity of MLB" ???

Personally, I don't give a sh*t about the integrity of the game. I watch baseball to be entertained. I want integrity in my bank -- I want to be entertained by baseball players.

Here's a question: Does anyone care if Julia Roberts has to take drugs to make it through a grueling movie-making schedule? Does that make her less of a top-notch movie star? Does that make her movies less entertaining? Does anyone really give a sh*t what she does "off the screen"?

Julia Roberts is the ugliest actress that anyone has ever called pretty. Way overrated, just like Bonds.

I bet if the old time ball players were still alive they probably wouldn't believe Rose got banned from baseball for what he did, compared to what they got away with.
Tris Speaker and Ty Cobb fixed a game in which they both played in, and Cobb later said the reason they were cleared was because his attorneys threatened to expose a lot more about gambling in baseball if they weren't cleared. The game was played in 1919, the story broke in 1926 when Cobb and Speaker were both managing and they both resigned in the wake of the scandal.

I think they kicked Joe Jackson out of baseball just for not informing on his teammates who were fixing games.

That was Buck Weaver, it is alleged that Joe Jackson did receive money.

It may have been alleged that Joe Jackson recieved money, but he was cleared in court.
Jackson was told by the commisioner of baseball that if he was found guilty, he would be kicked out of baseball, if found innocent he would be reinstated(he was suspended at the time).
He was found innocent and the commisioner still kicked him out of the game.
Jackson said he was approached only one time by someone(he didn't know the guy) who asked him to help fix the games, and Jackson threatened to throw him out the window. The guy took off running.

Are you serious? Why are you trying to revise history? He was guilty! Sure he was acquitted in court, but so was O.J. It is hard to imagine anyone reading the accounts of the time and not realizing he did it.

Pete should be in. Personal life should not matter...if youre banned for gambling you should be banned for drugs, crime, etc.
