How many on Wall Street know of Ebay/MS rebates??

It seems that the cash rebates are a blatant attempt to buy higher number of searches and sales.

Having served on the board of a publicly traded company I wonder just how they explain this blatant attempt to massage the numbers??

Blatant? Why does ebay offer free listing days near the ends of their financial quarters? Why did Bank of America give me $50 for opening an account? Why did the lady at Costco hand me a piece of ham on a toothpick?

I suppose your company must not have had any "Marketing Expenses".

I disagree with your comment. It has made me aware that MS c/b existed, and ever since I've been using the Live Search not only for some of my eBay purchases, but also for my Christmas Shopping. (the later are not limited to 12; however, the cb is a lot less) I'm not a marketing guru, but I suspect what MS is doing is very cost affective, compared to Nationwide TV commercials which can add up to millions of $$.

On a more serious Note ... I see nothing "blatant" with the C/B promo. MS has set aside a budget for marketing that product, but only time will tell if it was cost effective.

Plenty. I still stand by my original comment though. image
  • Costco pizza is the best. But we can't eat it any more. Pizza is not gluten free image

Maybe it was her way of gently suggesting you purchase a water pick. image
