Roll find: My bank is giving away silver

renman95renman95 Posts: 7,037 ✭✭✭✭✭
Every week I go to WF to get some cash, a roll or two of halves and a roll of dollars. Not much, just enough to pick through quickly.
This morning I got a (top roll) roll with 1968 in pencil on it. As I walked to the car I thought no way a full roll of 1968-D Kennedys? Sure enough, 20 coins. I drove off and did some more errands and thought...there's got to be more...right?

I went back and asked if there were more rolls wrapped in this paper. The teller went back to the vault. The good sign was she didn't come right back. When she did she had three more rolls. All were dated. I backed off on the rolls that said 71, 72, 73, and 74. I did pick one that had 65, 66, 67, 68, 69 penciled (bottom roll).

Total tally of the two rolls is: (3) 69-D, (24) 68-D, (2) 67, (5) 66, and (6) 65's

All for $20!
I usually find one or two coins a month. But never two full rolls. Looks like things are getting desperate.

It's cool but I would have just taken all they had and spent the non-silver ones. I wouldn't want to be too picky and have them wonder or start to think of why I was being picky.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

My bank never has 50 cent pcs. I did get 2 silver quarters last week that I thought was Canadian at first.

I guess it would have been icing on the cake if there had been a full roll of 70-D.

I think you struck silver there....had that happen to me once but I was lucky enough to find a walker, several frankies and quite a few 1964's along with the 40%

i had that exact same thing happen. 4 rolls, 2 said 1967, 1 said 1969, and 1 had multiple dates on it, all from the 60's. I wasnt expecting it, as why would someone label it and then turn it into the bank? But, whoever wrote the dates on those rolls was completely right! not a single copper nickel piece in there. I couldnt believe it.

I would've done the same as you Bochiman. Nice finds though!

I haven't picked up any rolls since the last $500 box of halves yielding nothing. Perhaps I should go back and search again.

I was thinking greedy and hoping for some 70's!

But it is the sign of the times to see this much silver.

Over the summer months there was nothing to be had.
