Trivia.... (I do not have the answer)

Of all the players currently eligible for the Hall of Fame, who has played in the most All-Star games but is NOT in the Hall of Fame? I guess this would mean that they were a very good player in their generation but for some reason not thought of as a Hall of Famer by the writers.

Edit: Just saw the part about eliglible. He won't be until 2010.

<< <i>the answer is Biggio >>
Biggio is not eligible yet.
Edited to add...actually, Bill Freehan was selected for 11 but only played in 8 of them. The same is true for Del Crandall.
Ooo, and McGwire had 12 selections and played in 9.

<< <i>If you remove the "eligible" criteria, Alomar has the most. In other words, after 2010 he may forever have the record. >>
Very true.
<< <i>sorry... Pete Rose >>
This may be true one day.
<< <i>sorry... Pete Rose >>
He's already in the Gambler's HOF, and the Bowlcut/sideburns HOF.

I don't know why you guys are so sure about this. I think Alomar will indeed get in. He was the best 2B for almost a whole generation. I know the press and the umps didn't like him, but they'll induct him someday.
Alomar argument:
Lifetime .300 hitter over 17 seasons
12 All Star Games
5 Silver Sluggers
5 time top 6 in MVP voting (at second base)
210 HR
1134 RBI
80 3B
504 2B
1032 BB
10 time Gold Glove
The guy IS getting in. 1000 walks out of the 2B slot with 12 ASG's and 10 GG's. He's almost a lock

I agree... there are worse people in the hall (personallity-wise).
<< <i> I always say Garvey should be in the HOF but I am a bias Dodger fan who grew up in LA during Garvey's hey day. >>
I'm also a Dodger fan and I feel Garvey is a Dodger legend and certainly was one of the best during his era. Not sure if he is a HOF, but maybe he gets in one day by some veterans committee. I have always felt that the HOF needs a Veterans Committee that has a vote with the MLB Writers.
Brian
and Alomar will def. be a HOF'er.
Al Oliver, 7 All Star Games.
Ted Simmons 8 All Star Games (only played in 5)
Reggie Smith 7 All Star Games
CDsNuts, 1/9/15
