group case break question

I have seen read all of the threads from the previous group breaks and have found them wildly interesting. From what I gather is that most come from BBCE, I assume this is mainly for trust reasons.

Has anyone considered an Ebay purchase of a case from a certain year and splitting it up 24 ways, a wax box each?

The reason I ask is that there happens to be a case of 1984 OPC on Ebay at this time.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1984-O-Pee-Chee-OPC-Unopened-Wax-Pack-CASE-w-24-Boxes_W0QQitemZ140281920922QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_SM_Sports_Cards?hash=item140281920922&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:1|39:1|240:1318

May need a little help with that link.

Has anyone attempted such an endeavor?
Is this a little too risky for this board?
Is 1984 OPC not worth the postage?
Could buying from unknown dealer on Ebay cause major problems?
Arethere some unseen difficulties that are out there?
Can we rationally explain why Dale Murphy is not in the HOF?
And why has Saturday not been renamed Sabanday?

These are just a few questions I'd like to ask this board.

You are correct in that it is mainly a trust issue. There are only a few unopened dealers that the people on this board trust.
    Link to auction
  • how about the other unopened and "unsearched" rack packs he's got.

the OPC case looks crushed and abused however.

Dale Murphy was one of the top 5 players in baseball for a 10 year stretch; he may make the HOF, but it would not surprise me if he didnt. He probably needed about 50 more dingers, I'd vote for him not only for his excellence and dominance but he exemplifies, sportsmanship and class.

How can a seller state that the cards within will be MINT to GEM MINT?

I agree 100% that this case looks rough and this may not be an acceptable auction. I was just thinking that this could possibly an alternative and a source for cheap group break.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

If the actual case was in better shape and the seller had a very good feedback would such a breakbe feasible on this board?

Naturally it would have to some product from the 80's, anything before that would be a little pricey and not worth the gamble, I assume.

I considered naming my about to be born daughter after Cartman, but the ball and chain had a different opinion. What to do?

  • We have done a case or two from BBCE with mixed results. I believe we did not sell out either case and the boxes I got were horrific.
