  • The excitement of finding silver or wheaties in change usually far exceeds their actual value. It is just cool and fun. I think it takes us all back to when we were kids and much more innocent collectors.

    Congrats on the find.

    that is a great find!

also, which is very important.. notice the look of that coin.
it speaks of originality. which most slabbed coins cannot hold a candle
to and people consider them original because they are slabbed.

the fields have a consistent even patina.. no halo effect going on
around the devices... and for the most part.. the devices which
everyone claims gets wear and thus becomes shiny.. is not at all.

this coin should be the standard of what circulation looks like.

scrub it up, slap it in plastic... and you will have what most "collector
    coins look like".

that is what circulated original washington quarters look like.
this is what circulated original half eagles look like.
see the pattern going on here?

That's a great find! Looks like it hadn't been circulating long before you plucked it.

My best find in chage was a 1939-D Jefferson. PCGS said MS63. My latest find was a silver dime in change from the vending machine at work about a month ago.

  • Back in the 80's when I was a kid, my granddad owned a laundromat and all the machines took quarters. Everyday we would roll hundreds of dollars worth, and about 2-3 times a week I would find a silver Washington-- That's how I started collecting
