I've been working on some artwork. How do you like this one?

The real filesize is 416MB as a Photoshop image. As a print-ready PDF it's around 27MB. The dpi is 300 and the size is 24in by 36in. What do you think of the sales potential of posters like this?

Very nice, although I doubt I'd hang it on my wall...

Ummm very nice artwork but you lost me with the word love. Maybe a word denoting passion would be less geekish. image
  • Very nice, and I like the bright backround. image Just for kicks, what does it look like with a darker backround?
  • It's cool! I think the word "LOVE" is appropriate, at least for the Beatles.

I love the poster in electronic form.

I would be divorced if I hung it in paper form at home. image
  • Very Nice collage of love tokens. Your photos always make great ART. image

  • Amazing piece. The balance is quite well done. I know the Hallmark card was a kind of a joke, but I can really see this as a Valentine card cover. I would really pursue sellin git that way. As a poster, it would really have meaning to people who understand these are love tokens. And since most of those are crochity old men, the commercial value seems real bleak.

Wow! A "Fathead" for coin geeks. image I like it! image

Sales potential on-the-other-hand is questionable. image

Although I don't collect love tokens, I can appreciate the work you've done on it.

I do like the display of love tokens.... although, I think sales value would be quite limited. I would be more likely to buy it without the 'LOVE' on it... Numismatic posters, while attractive to collectors, have a very limited market. Just us coin geeks. Cheers, RickO

I'd like it better without the word "love"

The layout, colors and balance are nice.

    My 2C,

    Bob
  • Cool. I appreciate the input.

To clarify it says "LOVE" because those are all love tokens.

I really didn't make this with sales in mind but just thought it was worth considering. I know the logistics and target market aren't demanding numismatic artwork so it's kind of just a creative outlet.

It only took me about 2 hours to fully make this. I ran out of saflips going through some mint rolls of wheaties and had some time on my hands.

If anyone has a genre or idea for a 24x36 poster, I'd be glad to use it as my inspiration for another one. image

I like it! I would change the font used for LOVE to be something that has more of a feel of golden age of love tokens.
  • Very cool, Brandon.

    How about something like:

    "Let Your Spirit Fly"
    or
    "Let Your Dreams Take Flight"

Against a backdrop of the different birds/eagles used on US coinage.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Hmm, a cool poster of the renditions of the eagle on different types would be attractive.

Although its very nice its also very limited to a specific audience.

If it stated "Expressions of Love" it might appeal to more folks.

What's that token to the right of the "V". Looks like a spider that caught a fly. image

It's probably tacky to ask, but would you sell me the musical love token ?
  • I image the artwork Brandon! Good Job!!!image

Exactly the problem with it: the # of people who know what a love token is, i.e., your target, is tiny.

Brandon - I get it. I understand it. I know what it takes to make it.

I also know how poorly coin posters sell, no matter how cool or appealing the subject.

If you did it in 11x14 you'd probably have a better audience. I think the days of posters are behind us.

    And an additional artistic suggestion...

Drop the harsh black lettering and go with something more ornate, and a light gray or lavender color. The black is too 'in your face' for the word LOVE.

That is SO cool. I'm afraid I have to agree with the other comments about marketing posters, but this would make an awesome cover for any periodical or book on the subject.

I thought about using a script lettering and made my first version of it using that. The letters didn't stand out enough. A good rule of thumb is if you want something to stick out in a very busy picture like this is to use a different bold font with heavy serifs. I think that if it were the script font, it would be overwhelmed by all the other script fonts and carvings on the love tokens themselves. It was just too hard to read.
