1985 Donruss

Is this a good deal? 1985 Donruss I'm thinking about open 1985 donruss set. I just wonder is any chance PSA 9 and PSA 10? or could be (OC)?

  • It's a crap shoot. You can have great cards (I've pulled BGS 9.5 and PSA 9/10's Clemens rc's from factory sealed sets) and also mis-cut/OC cards from sets. I've opened about 9 of these sets and got 1-10, 4-9's, 2- BGS 9.5's and the other two were diamond cut.

    Pass.

The prices of boxes & sets haven't caught up with the fact that the key cards in that set have fallen.

However, if you are buying to collect, then go nuts. 1985 Donruss is an underrated, good looking set.

    good luck
  • As already mentioned, the condition is a crapshoot but usually you get 75% of the cards with round corners because of the tight packing in each brick of cards.

God, I remember when these things were like gold. How far the 80's crap have fallen.

The good news is, round corners from a factory set won't keep it from a GEM MINT holder! Thank god this is a cheap card.

Blasphemy!! I love the 80's crap....I mean cards. I do wish I had been born about 10 or 20 years earlier so the cards I love would be worth something.

Whoever got those two sets for that price got a good deal. I probably paid at least that much for just ONE eight years ago. And that set is a true classic.

This auction ended and cost a total of $54! For 2 sets, that sounds like an excellent deal consistent with the troubled economic times? Or should it have been lower? $27 for each factory sealed set seems good, but please advise.

I'd pay 3 ea for the Reds sets- I think the Mattingly card would look sweet with a silverpen auto.
