Im not going to be an a$$ and post in the Red Sox thread so I'll post it here.... as a Yankees fan, I am HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY and THRILLED that the Sox season is as meaningless as the Yankees season!! wooooo hooo!!! Way to go RAYS!!!
With that said, Sox put up a fight and dont have anything to be ashamed of but now you can go put the wear in your lazy boy chairs! Good season and I cant wait for the AL EAST battle once again next year!

No doubt Barry, once the Sox are out of it I root for anyone playing the Yanks- Although its been awhile since thats happened
Seriously, without knowing what will transpire in the offseason, you've got to think that the road to the World Series will run through the AL East again in 2009.
What a world of difference watching the post season from the outside for the first time since 1994. MUCH more enjoyable then I thought it would be. And tonight things are about as good as a non Yankee playoff year can get.

How can you compare the Red Sox making it to the ALCS with the Yankees making it absolutely nowhere? I wouldn't term losing in 7 games in the ALCS "meaningless".
Jerry The Yankees were tied with the 7th best record in baseball. Yes, they were consistanly inconsistant and didnt make it to the playoffs. But, any season is MEANINGLESS if you dont win it all. That's what pro sports is all about. All or NOTHING.
Dont forget, Sox didnt win the AL East either nor will they fly the AL League Championship banner.

Also, spare us your NONSENSE about the Yankees making it nowhere this year. For the first time since 1994 the Yankees FINALLY did not make the playoffs. How many years diid the Sox go NOWHERE since 1994? Take your loss to the financially challenged Rays like a man.
I am taking it - and the Rays proved that they were the best team in the A.L. tonight. Hats off to the Rays and their class manager, Joe Maddon. He did a fantastic job all season.
