... or has the drop in the price of silver caused them to lose their appeal and premium?

They're still about $380 to $400 a roll on ebay.

$17 or so on APMEX in quantity.

No not fear the power of paper. That's why paper silver has one price and physical have another

if silver dropped to 7 dollars, ASEs would still bring huge premiums and sell for like 15+ easily!

Hmmmm ... we seem to have a disagreement here.

Is sanity starting to return to the ASE market?

The power of fear of paper assets, actually. You're both right.

Try to find rolls on Ebay or any dealer. You can't touch these at $15 each ($300 a roll), what do you consider sanity with these selling for well over $5 an ounce from the spot price?
  • I just bought 2 rolls on eBay for a little over $400 including shipping. But I got the 30% off from live.com so that brought the price down to a reasonable level.

    I just wanted some 2008s.
I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!
  • melt??

Perhaps you mean premium over paper silver price.

Or another way, "Silver IOUs" are trading at a discount to real silver.

A car has a certain price. A picture of a car can be had for much less. Not exactly the same, or is it?image

    Man,

Just looking through some old PMs about buying ASE rolls, and I see I had bought a 20-coin roll of 2000 ASEs back then for $135 a roll.

Sure wish I would have stocked up on a lot more rolls back then! image
