Anybody getting emails from MS LIVE...cancelling a rebate that was already paid?

Stating that you returned an Ebay buy and that your rebate was cancelled?

I just got 4 emails , 2 for each account. They did show up in my (2) accounts in the list!!

The Emails look exactly like the MS Search emails. I did not click on links.

I got paid the rebates over a week ago, past the 60 day Ebay return policy. I never returned anything.

Anyone else?

Nope...not yet ... sounds like a phishing attempt ... I'll keep an eye out for it....thanks for the heads up.

It is not a phishing attempt and I received my email too...
  • I received four such notifications for transaction cashbacks that I have already been paid. Likely a glich. I will start to worry if my PayPal account reflects a chargeback.
  • OK, good to hear someone else got it too.

The fact the same transactions show up in my account(s) is just really wierd.

I got an email too... my guess is it's a glitch somewhere. Maybe Microsoft had to fire the email guy due to the economy image

I received an email stating that I had earned $xxx , this was the same amount I had deposited in the paypal account by MSN. Hence I thought this was referring to payment already received.

The following day received an email stating just as those posted above, item returned, cancelled etc. Closer exam of the first email the date of the transaction did not match either the original purchase date nor the date funds were received. My impression is that somehow either a duplicate transaction from 3 months appeared or another individual's transaction was credited to my account.

Paypal account has not been charged back, however I have not been able to access the MSN Live cashback account screen.

Has anyone else had issues access the Live cashback account screen showing the past transactions?

Yep, same here. Got 2 messages Fri. in morning of rebates am getting, that already got. In the afternoon they sent a cancelation message for same 2. I replied back, after they canceled, informing of their error and to make sure their mistake does not affect my pending rebates. Thinking it may be away around honoring all 6 rebates,IMO.

This very thing happened to me. Reversal of two cashbacks because items were supposedly returned... no problem, except for (1) I still had both items, and (2) I'd already been paid via PayPal for the cashback.

I brought it to their attention and received the following reply:

<< <i>A technical issue has been identified causing some cashback transactions to be duplicated in accounts. This issue was recently resolved, however rather than removing the duplicate, the purchase will display in your account as cancelled instead. This should not affect your original purchases, and we sincerely apologize for the confusion and the inconvenience this may have caused.

Of course, I never saw any duplicated transactions, just the reversal... but my account balance was never affected. You need to be watchful though, as folks on other forums have claimed that the errors have put their account into a negative balance and/or reversed pending legitimate cashback purchases...

I'm glad to hear it was much about nothing.

When I first saw it, I thought I knew it was too good to be true. Then I thought scam.

Makes you wonder what other technical difficulties are occuring in the background.
