Wanted a PR69DCAM PCGS 2008-S Sacagawea to continue our set and was able to pick it up for less than $17 shipped!
If I had submitted, it would have been $14 (grading), $1 (face value, though, as a proof, it is a couple bucks more), part of the $5 fee, and part of shipping each way.
I think it would have been close to $20 unless I sent in TONS of them (bulk and shipping sharing).

So, I get from someone who looks like a good seller (njsteves) and pay a price I am fine with paying. Gotta love that image

That is a nice thing about VAMs. There are very common dates in ho-hum grades that wholesalers bulk submitted and make available for such ridiculous deals. Fortunately, many interesting VAMs are among those exceedingly common Morgan dates too.

My Dansco albums are full of these sorts of coins. Good stuff.

    It's just that...

It's going to be real expensive to reslab them when it comes time to sell. image

It IS sorta crazy, isn't it!? image

Great fun if you're the buyer -

not so much fun if you're the seller/ submitter!

Heck, it's cheaper to get coins graded thru Teletrade
than doing so as a paying club member!imageimageimage

I agree Ron... and I have done this often. My thoughts are that someone is trying to move inventory they are no longer interested in, or a dealer bought a large lot at a good price and is liquidating. Cheers, RickO

That's a big part of it for the moderns, Rick. It is also when people try to score the top pop coins and end up with a lot just below that. If you aren't one to chase the pop tops, you can find some good scores image
