Gold Just Spiked

As the stock market was selling off just before the final bell to finish down about 678 points for the day, gold has been making an impressive run, spiking up about $30 in the last 30 minutes.

Added: and still moving higher......

bigger percentage gains to be made in silver.... screw gold ;-)

even bigger gains to be flipping the stuff on ebay instead of holding it.

The only thing that gives me pause at that idea is the damn fees upon fees you get charged. It's robbery I tell ya.

There are opportunities to be had IF you can beat that roughly 10% ebay/paypal "bite". Selling on ebay still beats selling to dealers 99.9% of the time.

i'm sure you're right about the dealer end.....i look at what i think i can get off ebay fees mailing and paypal (and time) and compare it to the "sell to Apmex" (their buy price)...they have a $1000 min but that's all the worry there is.

When the silver market has finally run its course, I don't think that ebay flippers will be anywhere near the top of those who did the best either percentage-wise or in absolute gains. And at the moment it's sort of hard to resupply for your "flips" unless you plan to shave down 1000 oz bars in your basement.

interesting (different) commentary by Dan Norcini today, more like wide-eyed suprised and astonishment.
also mentions the $925 ceilings i supposed that is where the lid blows off?

We are getting closer to the point where physical gold breaks completely away from paper gold. At that point, such as a Comex default, the pog could double in a day.

Wow, thats powerful stuff. When will this happen?

Funny an ol timer at a local B&M, was talkin about 8000 Dow, $8000 gold, a couple of days ago.

Wish I had more time to probe, had to run to work.

I have read that the DJIA and the price of an ounce of gold in dollars have been equal a couple of times in history. In the Great Depression (I think about 1932) and in 1980.

I don't believe the current economic crisis is as bad as the early 1930's, but it might be as bad as 1980, when the Dow fell to about 600, and gold was above that price.

That is where some are getting the $8000 price.
