Quickest ebay bid time

Just curious.
What is the quickest you have ever gotten a bid on an ebay item of yours?

Mine was a little over a day.

Often times within minutes of listing. There was one time a few years ago when I was listing several PCGS graded IKE dollars at BIN prices. As quick as I was listing them, there was someone waiting to hit the BIN.
  • Someone hit a BIN of mine 10 minutes after I listed it.

  • Last night I had someone hit buy it now on a proof gold buffalo within about 2 or 3 minutes of listing. It's good, but definitely tells me I priced it too low and left money on the table.

They seem to bid closer to the end than the beginning, but I've had some within an hour or so depending on the item. My absolute quickest was an certifed shield nickel that sold with BIN in less than 5 minutes because I priced it too low and someone got a real bargain.

I've had several BIN items sell within 20 minutes. The record was a rare date early quarter that sold within 7 minutes. I don't even know how anybody found it that fast.

I listed 20 BIN's for IKEs and 6 of them sold before I had completed the 20th listing! I went to double check my work and only saw 14 listed and was convinced I had screwed something up! Then I checked my email and voila!

This took me maybe 35 or 40 minutes!

  • I end/start my auctions on Sunday nights starting at 9 PM EST with 2 minute intervals between each auction. That means that the people who are around for the end of my auctions are also there for the start of the new ones. It makes for some quick bids sometimes. It also helps that I start everything at $.01.

I've gotten a bid on an item in under a minute, and had things bid up to $1000 in under 5 minutes.

Had 1832 Bust half that sold @ BIN in about 2 min. I was very surprised, and afterward I wondered if I should have listed for more money? image

I had one item I listed that was listed, sold, paid for and shipping in under 15 minutes. I wish they were all that easy.

  • Can get bids within minutes. I laugh at early bids. I have had coins on ebay for thousands of dollars and early maximum bids were less $10.00. Do people think that nobody else will bid? Hope springs eternal & it doesn't cost them anything...maybe they'll get 93-S Morgan for a bargain!!!

Many times I will start bidding on an item early with a low price rather than putting the item in just being "watched" section.

I bought a rare Morgan VAM with a BIN within 9 seconds of the start. And another specialist was so incensed he didn't beat me to it that he emailed the seller almost immediately and tried to convince the seller that the item was worth several thousand more to him. I found out about this from the seller, who gave the initial impression of seller's remorse, but he consummated the transaction. Then I emailed the third party and told him to put up or STFU. image

Somebody listed an 1829 large cent that I BIN-ed within 3 minutes of the start. It was an unattributed Wheelspokes (N7, R4) late die state, probably worth about 3-4 times the listing price.

I checked back after 10 minutes and picked up a newly listed BIN on a 99 W error $10 gold eagle for $300 image

After cashback it came to $240 imageimage

I Binned something late last year, a 1680 Scottish Merk, that a seller had on eBay for a mere $75. The coin is worth many times that. The auction just came up in my saved search and I pounced on it. A deal like that doesn't come up often, and the 1680 Merk is very rare.

It's just one way to track an auction. Nobody expects to actually win for that price.
  • One of the most interesting purchases on eBay that I ever had occurred in 2005. One of my sources for French medals in Paris had not had any listings for several weeks. When he returned, listing more than 60 medals, I sent him an e-mail expressing my concern hoping that he didn't have some health issues. He told me that he usually takes buying trips 3-4 times a year to scour Europe. To show his appreciation for my concern, he asked if there were any of his listings that held my interest. If so, he would pull them before any bids were placed. As a result, I bought 44 medals that had been on eBay for less than 3 hours for $1450.

Within a minute, too - listed it, read it, went to revise a spelling error and too late! I used to think it took awhile to hit the search engines but have been proven wrong.

A fast selling BIN is disconcerting, but if you made your money on it, it's good to have a quick sell.

  • A lot of people do not know that newly listed items on eBay
do NOT show up everywhere at the same time!!!

In other words -- if you wanted to troll around, say Morgan
Dollar BIN category, there are searches where the listings show up
    before the regular lineup.

    You're on your own.
