Funny....I think you just jinxed the Sillies. lol

I spoke to the webmaster at CU and advised him to increase the alloted digital space on their server, because the "Hellos" on this thread could get overwhelming.

Being serious now, I can't believe the NL has come down the Dodgers and the Sillies.

Mets and Cubs were the big favorites...not any more.

I saw where Phillies "Hellos" are going for $1,000 and more on ebay. They're absolutely free here. How's that for a bargain?

Dodgers fans during this series will be exiting Dodger Stadium faster than the audience at a beauty contest featuring Rosie O'Donnell.

Two hours away from the beginning of a National League pennant for the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team.

Phillies need to win their games at home because as everyone knows, Dodger Stadium is a tough ballpark to hit home runs which is a Phillies specialty.

I'm predicting a Phillies win tonight - no problem.

    how about During?

Im seriously nervous as hell about this game. it's not even ON and I CAN'T WATCH NOW..

    SKEERED!
  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,035 ✭✭✭✭✭
Really an excellent win tonight. This game could have gone the other way but the Phillies did just enough to win. I still think the series might go to 6 games, but the Phillies are going to be very tough for the Dodgers to beat them 4 out of 6 times - that just ain't gonna happen...the Dodgers simply aren't good enough to do that.

Am I saying this series is basically already over? Yes, I am.
  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,035 ✭✭✭✭✭
Mets fans and other non-Phillies fans...better get your "Hellos" in soon. I might start charging for them.

Sorry to hear that man - We kid around here with sports talk, but badly losing money in the market...that's real life, serious business...hope it turns out as well as possible for you. A lot of good people out there in the same boat, many of my family members and friends. Hopefully this next president can get things squared away and turned around.

Seriously, did you hear about the CEO of (CHK) Cheseapeake Energy ? He had to sell all his shares he bought on margin
because he believed so much in his company. Just yesterday he was the majority shareholder of his company, no he owns no shares.

McClendon commented, “I am very disappointed to have been required to sell substantially all of my shares of Chesapeake. These involuntary and unexpected sales were precipitated by the extraordinary circumstances of the worldwide financial crisis. In no way do these sales reflect my view of the company’s financial position or my view of Chesapeake’s future performance potential. I have been the company’s largest individual shareholder for the past three years and frequently purchased additional shares of stock on margin as an expression of my complete confidence in the value of the company’s strategy and assets. My confidence in Chesapeake remains undiminished, and I look forward to rebuilding my ownership position in the company in the months and years ahead.”

Great start today -- kind of a chaotic game so far, Howard is struggling at the plate. But overall in a good spot through five innings. Myers has been a monster at the plate!

Thanks, Steve, for the kind words...I'm not planning to sell off anytime soon, so time is on my side, and I'll keep buying at these discounted (I hope) prices.

I just bought two official Shea Stadium bricks from the NY Mets web site...Steve (winpitcher) may have deeper pockets and bid on the "S" on the Shea Stadium which is also up for auction now, too, LOL!!

Phillies really have few weaknesses. I'm not gonna say this team is as good as the 1980 Phillies, but this Phillies team certainly is capable of going all the way.

Phillies are the best team remaining, IMO.

How freaking idiotic is Man Ram, blowing all that hot air, yelling at the pitcher after a skimpy *ss home run, catching the flower
bed. Touch all four and go back to the dugout you big jerk. You know this guy is going to implode once the Dodgers get swept.
I hope Moyer puts a fastball between the eyes Sunday.

    JS

PS....Just got a call from Brett Myers....CC called Brett and wants some hitting lessons!
  • Things don't look good for the Dodgers right now but they are not in an impossible situation, they must win four out of five games and win in Philadelphia, I don't like their chances.

That's acting like a punk, no doubt about it - which of course is one reason Boston let him go.

As far as him getting plunked - could happen.

Could happen if the Dodgers were at least a better team, but the Phillies in my view are definitely a better ballclub than the Dodgers. For all intents and purposes this series is over, and I realize the Dodgers swept the Phillies last time they played at Dodger Stadium - That simply isn't going to happen here in this series.

With a few exceptions, the Phils are playing some excellent baseball right now.

I thought our one weakness was the bullpen, but that is just not the case, if they are nails, no way LA gets back into this series. I would
be surprised if Man Ram sees another pitch the rest of the series.
