I dug up these... um, square coppery things!

They're something...

    Copper "flashing" scraps, I reckon. I find 'em periodically. Looks like you hit the motherlode, though. image

    A detector sure loves to sniff those out. They'll beep like a coin every time!

    I think I can see some remnants of old epoxy or something on some of those pieces you got.
