There is some chance that the seller does not know what he is selling.

Just wondering ... How you can tell it's an 83 without seeing the back?

I have about 20 Mantles lying around and never really took the time to figure out
    what year they are.

Because there's no such thing as a 1967 Starliner sticker. They were all made in 1983. Somewhat after their creation, enterprising (but dishonest) dealers decided to "forget" they were made in 1983, and started selling them as a 1967 issue. The pictures used for the stickers are the same ones that were used for the 1967 Dexter Press cards (5 1/2x7 postcard type cards).

If you look at the makeup of the 1983 Starliner sticker set, it becomes apparent that they weren't printed in 1967. 16 cards in the set--15 players are HOFers with Rocky Colavito being the long exception. That would have been incredibly perceptive of the issuer in 1967 to include future HOFers such as Jim Palmer and Joe Morgan. image

    Bob,

    thanks for clearing that up!

I just checked my cards and all but 2 have Dexter Press on the back.

Just wondering.... did Dexter Press produce any later year sticker cards using the same pics?

If not, I'll be satisfied knowing that mine are all 67s (except for the 2 without Dexter backs).

    I appreciate your input,

Dexter Press never published any sticker cards. If it's peelable, it's not Dexter Press.
