SAEs...send these in to get entombed and slow the toning process, or put into an album?

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,556 ✭✭✭✭✭
These have all been left out in the closet at various times over the last year or so.
Tempting to put in an album, but, while we have kept 2 albums of SAEs (all blast white), not sure if a toned album is wanted.

Could send to PCGS and get graded (have 2 already graded by them a year ago or so) and do a toned set that way....and keep the toning process slowed and not worry about any problems while in slabs.
(there is a line in the center of the 2005 but it is a toning line, somehow...not sure if a piece of paper ended up on it or what.....but it looks like a scratch)

    O.K...

Was there a water heater in that closet or just your sneakers?

Scary thing is that it is in the same air I breathe image

Seriously....the only thing near these are boxes from the mint (mint set boxes, etc) that are too low value for me to take up space in the SDB and they are just sitting there about 10 ft away from where I am when I am online at home, like right now.

There are no chemicals, no eggs, no nothing. I can go there right now and pick one up (by the sides, of course), in about 3 seconds and there is nothing on them.
The spottiness on some of them is from dust.

When I first saw this happening just over a year ago, I made a quick call to get my ducts cleaned because this is from the air I breathe every day.

Any of them that are prior to 2002 are purchased and may have had some toning prior to me getting it, or may have had none (it would have been purchased over 5 years ago and I didn't keep records on toning, etc, since most of it was new to me then). Anything 2002 and later, I purchased in rolls as they came out.

They start toning within 3 months or so...lightly at first, then darker after 6-9 months.

btw, bigE, I have some 90% dimes/quarters/halves in the closet, next to these.....practically ZILCH for tonight...and some have been in there over a year.
It is just the SAEs that tone so quickly here.

  • Neat how the toning highlights the fingerprints and saliva spray.

Another example of why every home office needs a generously sized return air duct.

    That concludes this PSA.

  • All of the OP coins have been sped up and are somewhere between NT and AT. The orange to purple progression is a classic indicator of being sped up. Good luck trying to get them slabbed.
