Ebay echeck problem/Question?????

Sold an item on the 21st, echeck initiated on the 23rd, said expected clearing date of 9/26 which is today, I just checked it to see if I can ship and now it says expected clearing date October 9th? WTH, I'm not waiting nor should I be expected to wait 18 days???

18 days is a very long time!

I have had E Checks take upto 10 days if a holdiay was in the mix.

Very interesting ... this has never happened to me. I'd be interested to know what the answer is. ( my guess ... your buyer has a history of his checks not clearing the first time)

Could just be a fluke... I'd call paypal and speak with them.

Paypal doesn't make anything on this type of payment except for $5, so they are counting on daliy interest by holding it a bit.

3 day is not a lot of time, as usually 4-7 days to clear is the norm.

My initial thought was that you probably shouldn't sell on ebay. But everywhere else you wait much longer...so I'm not sure what your options are. I'm fine waiting up to 30 days, then I start sending e-mails. --Jerry

The e-check was probably drawn on an account with insufficient funds. PayPay takes their sweet time re-presenting the request for funds to the bank which the account is with.

And your initial thought is based on what? I think most here would find it unreasonable to wait 18 days, let alone 30+, but then again, I'm not running 200 listings at a time, nor would I want to. I must have missed that as a prerequisite to selling on Ebay.

Yup, this was correct, nsf results in an additional processing time of 7 (not just days) but business days which takes it to 10/9, with of course no guarantees it'll go through...

I do many e-checks and it takes about 1 week for them to clear.

Did paypal charge more then the 5.00 that they used too? According to some they are now charging a PCT.

No, the paypal charge shows up as $5.00. I sent the buyer an email on Sept 26th when the nsf took place and asked if he still wanted the coin, and thereafter opened an unpaid item dispute. The buyer has not responded to either my email or the UPI dispute, but he did however, buy and instantly pay for a similar coin from another seller on Oct 1st. Q now is would you wait for the 9th to see if his check clears, or would you just close the dispute? My gut says the buyers a putz...

These are usually a case of NSF, but not always. I've had a couple where the buyer was perfectly solvent, but their bank fubared it.
