Submission question, only flips or are capsules okay?

baddogssbaddogss Posts: 1,306 ✭✭✭✭✭
Question regarding PCGS submissions;

I have several new coins from the US Mint in their little coin capsule.
Do I have to remove them from the capsule and put in a flip before sending to PCGS?
In the past I have always sent them in a 2.5" Mylar flip. It just seems that the less I handle them, the less of a chance of damage.

Thank you advance.

    I did my freebies over the weekend and I removed them from the capsules myself.
    This way if they BB, I can say I did that!

    Nothing is free ... especially the "freebies" ... In my book .. you just paid $150 + insurance + mailing costs, to have coins certified that you can pick-up already certified at or below mint issue price on eBay or the BST. ( calculation...Plat membership $199 ... Silver (no freebies) $49......

    Maybe you will get some 70's and that will make up for the costs.

    Well now you did it, you've snapped me out of my delusional state of mind. I was just starting to get comfy too.

    I know, I've been debating the cost effectiveness of buying raw coins, that I know I want slabbed.
    Maybe I should just start buying them already graded ... ?

    Absolutely...especially the 69's .... Dealers will dump them on eBay & have no problem taking a loss. The 70's ofset their losses on the 69's .... Most of the 69's on "modern stuff" can be had at or below Mint issue price
