Guess the grades

I sent the following 7 cards in last week and had them pop today. All 7 cards received a grade. There were no qualifiers for any of the grades and no mystery wrinkles (all graded PSA 6 to PSA 9).

i didnt read everything
so the grades being 6 - 9 ... there is a 6

its either payton or the first bird / johnson

To make this more interesting I will give the Farve to whoever gets the most cards correct. Ties will be broken by totaling PSA grades of correct guesses (if that results in another tie then whoever posted/edited first wins). One guess per person.

I am going to go workout. Contest closes at 9:00pm Eastern. Feel free to edit your guesses until then.

The submission is private so hopefully folks can't go online and find out the grades based on the submission number.

Lee was the winner, not surprising since he has a very good eye for grading modern cards.

Overall I wasn't particularly happy or upset with the submission. Only card that looks wrong to me is the Jordan I had that a sure fire 9. I am sure I missed something on the top of the 1st Bird/Magic card but I would have graded it anyways.

I was hoping for a 9 on the Gretzky but am happy with an 8, I don't like qualifiers. I now have 4 PSA 8s of the Gretzky (all pulled from wax or vending) and will do an Ebay upgrade in the not too distant future. I will never pull a PSA 9 and with boxes going for ~3k just isn't worth the gamble any more.

As to the Payton they don't really penalize for the ugly edges for those cards from what I have seen. Was originally just going to re-holder but figured I would re-sub for the extra $9. Ended up being a waste of $9

I have a 26 card sub of mostly 86 Fleer (from my splurge at BBCE a couple weeks back) that is going to be mailed out tomorrow. Hopefully I will do a better job, I like to shoot for at least 50% PSA 9 or better with my subs.

If you're gonna get killed on a sub, at least let it be the two least expensive cards. I think the Gretzky, Payton and both Bird/Magic's are in the right holders. The only reason I guessed 8.5 on the Bird/Magic is that every one I've ever graded was at least .5 lower than I thought it should be, and most were 1-2 grades lower. Great sub overall I would say.
