Are any collectors here thinking of going to CoinFest on Sunday, rather than Saturday?

I planned on going to CoinFest on Saturday, which, as we know, is the most popular day to attend a coin show. Unfortunately, I think I may have a conflict, and might be forced to attend on Sunday instead.

Are any collectors here planning on attending on Sunday, rather than Saturday? I think this is one of the few shows where dealers stick around on Sunday, so hopefully the place won't be a ghost town.

I plan on going Saturday if I can make it. Personally, if I couldn't make it Friday or Saturday, then I just wouldn't bother.

I'm planning to be there Friday, in fact I just put in the vacation request for that afternoon off.

Are you sure you are a true coin collector?

I mean...here it is...two years in a row...with more than ample advance notice of a major coin show... Right in your veritible backyard... and you have a conflict??? that interferes and/or prevents you from attending???

Get a grip my friend... and a setimage ... don't be such a wimp... stand up and declare what YOU want to do!!!

  • Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I think Coinfest has a rule that all dealers must remain on Sunday.

  • Plan on going Friday. Never trust Sundays. Too many bad experiences. Great show last year. Picked up 3 Lincolns, 1933,43 and 53. Also going to WESPNEX the first weekend of October.

I wouldn't ever go to a show on a Sunday if it means considerable time and cost in travel. It's just not worth it. I wish that weren't so for all the working stiffs out there, but them's the realities...

Yes we have a strick rule that dealers must remain thru Sun....

if they leave way early, they will not be invited back for the next year.... with that said, we are advertising the show in 38 Newspaper so we expect a big enough crowd that dealers will be doing good business on Sunday and that they will have a real reason to stay.....

so if you want to break the traditional bad chicken before the egg....help support the show and plan on coming for 2 days maybe Fri / Sun or Sat / Sun......

to make it even more interesting......the first 100 people on Sunday will receive a certified Silver Dollar (either Morgan or Peace) either way its all good! image

Cool! I figure if I come with the three kiddies, and pick up a few Stamford bums at the train station, I can collect a bunch of freebies and flip them at the show for an obscene profit. image

I was planning on being there Saturday, but which day is the Longacre barbecue?

I should have a raging party at my house. Mrs. L. will be away on vacation, and we can put a keg in the living room and dance on the Stickleys. image

Well, I am pretty sure that I will be going Sunday only...I have a model car show on Long Island Saturday, I THINK! (It may be the weekend after Coinfest, I need to check, if so, then I will probably be there Saturday!) Since I depend on friends to get to the LIARS show, if they aren't able to go, then I am unable to go, which should free me up for Coinfest...I need to do some research, if the car show in LI is the weekend after, then that would be perfect. This is an annual thing, the model car show I go to, so I may not be able to ever hit a Saturday at Coinfest for the forseeable future image

I don't want to go on Friday, as I really want to see the exhibitions/contest mentioned on the website for Saturday and Sunday only. I'm not going to have much money to spend on coins, so mostly it will be a learning experience, as it will be my first EVER coin show! I've never been to any, ever. I want to see the displays, talk to people, and learn! (And spend whatever I can scrounge up image )

In the ever changing saga that is Longacre's quest to get to the CoinFest show, I think I can make it on Saturday. If I am with the kids, I need to leave by around 1. If I can get a babysitter, then I can stay for a little bit longer. With some luck, I may be able to pop in on Friday, but I'm not holding my breath.

What will we do if we do not get the live bourse report in the Longacre tradition on Saturday directly from Longacre? What about Friday? Who is responsible for coverage on Friday?
