Ugly Obverse - Sweet Reverse

MeltdownMeltdown Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭✭✭
Here's a half favorite of mine. It's in a small old blue label ANACS slab graded 63 PL
The obverse is rather hideous, while the reverse is one of my favorite toned examples. A buddy of mine
swears it's a cleaned coin in a slab, but I don't want to believe him. My question is can anything be done (NCS or someone)
to tidy up the splotchy tone on the obverse or am I stuck with half a nice morgan?

  • send it to NCS to see if they could bring it back to something resembling the reverse - still a nice coin either way!!

NCS will perform an acceptable dip... you will, though, lose the reverse tarnish as well. Cheers, RickO

If you like the reverse, leave her be. She is what she is.image

I like the reverse "tarnish" as Rick-o afffectionately calls it. image
I guess I pretty much knew I was stuck with the ugly obverse.
