Am I missing any Baseball HOF O-PEE-CHEE Rookie Cards??

I am collecting these alongside my Post War Baseball HOF RC Registry Set. Cards must be from the same year as their Regular issued Topps Rookie Card (EX: 1983 OPC Ripken does not count). This has been a lot of fun and I highly recommend it for any RC collectors...
I tried to start a registry set for this, but PSA would not do it.

I believe the ONLY one I am missing is 1968 NOLAN RYAN.

I have:
1965 Joe Morgan
1966 Jim Palmer
1972 Carlton Fisk
1973 Mike Schmidt
1974 Dave Winfield
1975 Gary Carter
1975 Robin Yount
1975 George Brett
1975 Jim Rice (hopefully this year)
1976 Dennis Eckersley
1978 Eddie Murray
1979 Ozzie Smith
1983 Tony Gwynn
1983 Ryne Sandberg
1985 Kirby Puckett (if this counts)

Please let me know if I have missed any..
Thanks,
Craig

    Craig,

You need the newest HOF'er. Goose Gossage.

I'm also collecting the same cards. I don't know If I will ever own a 68 Ryan, but I think it a really cool set.
I've added some of a players 'first' OPC cards as well. 83 Ripken, etc

    How about a future HOF'er?!

  • oooopsss..i actually have the Gossage, so I accidentally left that one off. As far as possible future HOFer's, I have 1975 Jim Rice, 1981 Tim Raines, and 1971 Steve Garvey. Any other future HOF'ers, without opening a huge can of worms with current players? And of current players, who are the top ones? Maddux, Chipper?

for 71 I'd pick up a Bert Blyleven (SP?)

  • I know he isn't and probrobly never will be but the 1970 Munson is a key card that I would add to that collection.
  • You might as well pick up the following since they're all cheap: 84 Mattingly, 87 Bonds, 89 Randy Johnson, 90 Frank Thomas, 91 Chipper Jones, 92 Manny Ramirez.
  • I think there have already been 348202980 discussions on who the future Hall-o-Fame player are. While that doesn't mean we can't have another, it will definitely be easier to wait 'til they actually are inducted rather than trying to guess on the dozens of possibilities -- Rice, Larkin and Alomar have the best chances over the next two years, if you care

If you think of Steve Garvey as a Hall-of-Fame player, you'll also need to add the 1982 Jesse Barfield since they have the same exact chance of making it
    Tom
  • Can anyone offer opinions on why Ryne Sandberg flew into the HOF and Garvey will never make it? Is it because of positions?
Garvey's Career Stats are slightly better...each played 14 seasons with over 100 games...

    .285/282HR/1061 RBI/5 out of 14 seasons over .300 Sandberg
    .294/272HR/1308 RBI/7 out of 14 seasons over .300 Garvey

    what gives?

p.s.- why were you so hard on Garvey? Most people don't realize how good his #'s were...
