i have a feeling we're going to see things like "full logs" from the TPG's on the first one. I mean, how you gonna squeeze all that on the back of the cent?
The idea for the coins is nice, but I think that's way too much detail to put on the reverse of such a small coin...I think someone else mentioned a future "full log" designation...
Are these still planned to be in copper rather than zinc? If so, I can't imagine they'll circulate very widely. Didn't investors hoard all 1964 kennedys?
Where in the market today can you get an instant 100% return on your investment?

..............they should be the size of the large cent..............then there would be PLENTY of room for the designs!

I believe the copper (bronze?) versions will be for collectors only, and sold at premium prices.
Looks like 2008 will be the last year for the Memorial reverse, so the Lincoln Memorial cents will become another 50-year collectible sub-series, just like the wheat cents.

....good question, sumnom. i think they'll continue minting them because of politics.

I can't see collecting them. Except perhaps for one perfect set, first year. Modern coins are just a little too easy.
Anyone would be fine.

I sort of like them all too, but would like to see them on coins first before making my final ruling.

The designs look far better as a blown up drawing than I imagine they will on a much smaller one cent coin.
A Civil War theme would be very appropriate, or one of his quotes such as "The Union Must Be Preserved", "Four Score and Seven Years Ago..."
It really doesn't matter as the government will probably discontinue striking the cents within a decade or two, regardless of the metal used.
There are few, if any, regular production coins, from any country, that have been used in circulation for more than 100 years.
I wish they did some kind of revision to the wheatback.
