Typically I steer clear of problematic Bust Dollars... but couldn't resist this one.

but this one was just too purdy.
Looks like the only repairs are to Liberty's lips. The price was right, too... around $1160 with the juice.
I think she looks a little bit more like a VF25 or 30.

<< <i>very nice look to the coin Will!! great pickup; now here's an imperfect dollar i can support (much better than that Morgan that lost the knife fight)
ROFL
Thanks!
I would never buy a 1799 Dollar for a type coin. WAY too common a date for a type Bust Dollar.
1797 would be my choice, or else a 1795.
<< <i>Ok, I'd take it at that price if I were planning on flipping it.

But they have small eagle reverses! 1799 may have relatively high mintage but there are cool varieties, e.g. 8x5 stars. Where's my Reiver book. Another 1799 that's cool has a major die crack that bisects the reverse. Talk about split grades!
I love the color on that 1799. I cannot see the repair but I am having trouble getting the larger image to load. That's a nice price too, all things considered!
<< <i>What does the designation "details" mean? >>
It has the details of a VF coin, but since it has the repair it cannot be designated as a normal VF.
For the inquisitive in the house, could someone point out specifically what is "repaired" on this one?
Nice coin for the $$$ IMO.
