We are just waiting on a few people to pay. I have not yet paid either just in case people flake and I have to pick up the rest. Steve will usually start shipping as long as the majority of people have paid. I will be sending in the finale payment some time tomorrow afternoon.
  • jswietonjswieton Posts: 2,870 ✭✭✭
Everyone has payed besides one person. I set aside a few packs for skilow because he was always saying he was left out of the group rips but he never responded. Ping4u43 and I will split the remainder of his packs. I wanted to thank everyone else who payed quickly. It makes my job a lot easier.
  • jswieton- Thx for organizing the rip!

  • Thanks to all that paid up so quickly. Wasn't here for group rips in the past, but I hope they all go this smoothly in the future. Now tell Steve to mail out my PSA 10 Jordans...
  • What is a PSA 10 Jordan??image

Very interesting Skilow was a non-payer (even though you held spots for him ) He was the one that wanted to organize this rip.

I was trying to be nice to him but that was a mistake. I have sent him 5 PM's over the past week and he hasn't responded to any of them. He knew we were getting ready to do a group break and showed interest in it. I understand not everyone checks the message board everyday, but come on it has been almost 1 week.

I didn't join this rip (not much interest in FB & BB) but I just checked this thread and find it curious that skilow hasn't claimed his stuff. Anyhoo, so as not to be waxless I ordered some Baseball from Steve today, whence I rip I'll make a separate thread. Good luck to all, let's see some gems.

Everyone has paid!! I'm getting my scanner warmed up. We should all have them by the end of the week.
  • Thanks for trying to save me spots. Finally got my power back on from Sunday. I'm sorry for any troubles caused.
  • Anyone recieved anything yet?
  • jswietonjswieton Posts: 2,870 ✭✭✭
My packs should be here tomorrow or Friday at the latest. My scanner is ready to go.

    My packs came in today

  • This sucks. I won't get mine until Saturday. I've been on emergency standby out at sea for hurricane relief. Wifey says I have 4 or 5 packages on my desk. Post scans if you get any good pulls!

All the packs apear to be in great condition. No signs of being searched. I am pretty excited to start ripping. I also ordered a box of 89 fleer celo.
  • The thread is now useless without scans

The pippen is deffinetly a 9. nice rip
  • jswietonjswieton Posts: 2,870 ✭✭✭
Well here ya go. Nothing spectacular, it was a fun rip. The Steve Young is probably the best card out of all the packs I opened. I also purchased a box of 89 Fleer Celo that I will include in the scan. I think this is the last time I buy 89 Score FB. I am kind of burned out from it. They are just not that visualy exciteing either. I do however enjoy opening the 88/89 fleer basketball and 84 fb. I don't think I'll ever get sick of those. I'm not sure if anything is even woth getting graded.

If anyone gets a well centered Jordan I would be interested in buying or trading for it.
  • Good day,
    Got mine today,
    Nothing worth scanning.
    5 packs 89 Score...Nothing but Commons!
    3 packs 86 Football......Nothin but commons...one card #7 Payton Record Breaker...maybe Mint 9.
5 packs 84 Football....Commons except for an outragously off center Elway.
    Overall another disappointment.

I feel your pain on these rips, when i do get some star power the condition sucks. Nothing today
  • jswietonjswieton Posts: 2,870 ✭✭✭
the thing that makes me sick is that when I buy these packs I am only looking for a few specific cards. I would be better off just buying the cards outright. It would save me a bunch of money. For some reason the thrill of opening a pack is just way better then recieving a single card in the mail that i purchased off of ebay. I guess it is the same mentality that keeps vegas going. Everyone knows the odds of winning are really slim.
  • Mailman just left my package with two 84 Topps.
  • 4:20 and still no mailman yet. He's probable sitting around the corner opening my 89 Score hoping for a Sanders image
  • It wasn't my day today. Got a ticket then opened 6 packs and got all commons including 2 Darryl Talley's in the same pack.
  • 1989 Score FB was more of less a dud. Nothing worth scanning , but I got a Bo Jackson and Joe Montana.

The 1988 Fleer were a bite nicer. Got a Jordan (probably 9OC) and a Pippen with an outside shot at a 9. Plus a few others....

  • Good day,
Be carefull what you sub right now, especially on the 88 Fleer. The 88's in this sub were from the most pristine, sharp, fresh packs I have seen in 10 years. The cards were centered better then anything I've ever gotten from Steve and look what they did!!! Just Brutal!!!! And don't even start about the Evid of Trim. Last time I did that, thread got pulled and I got banned!!!!!
Not sure what it takes to get a 10 in these, been subbing for years and years, and these were literally the nicest 88's I have ever seen.

  • Thanks for making me worry Neil. I just submitted a handful of 88's from a recent group rip and I WAS anxiously anticipating the grades to pop.
  • Bill,
Just don't get your hopes up to high. PSA can be brutal!!! There are enough Nines there that I will make some money. It's just that a couple of 10's would have made the month!!

  • Neil- when you trim, do you use an X-Acto knife, or are you using sandpaper? If you're using a knife, you might be taking too much off.

Opened the three 1984 packs.......Im glad I didnt get anything special......packs were tight/clean looking, but cards had corner dings in 2 of 3 packs......the 88/89's tomorrow.........till then

  • Here are some of the highlight from my rip. One of the jordan all-stars was on top, and the gum was stuck to it. Sucks. Oh well, overall I'm happy. About 20 cards away from a complete set, plus dups on rookies and stars. Can't wait to do it again....

  • Haha, I was just joking Neil. Time to resubmit I guess.
  • My 5 packs of 89 Score arrived today. Got a Sanders in the first pack, unfortunately it was a Deion. Pack 3 also yielded a Sanders...Ricky Sanders. Thurman Thomas was only rookie worth mentioning, Marino, Rice and LT the only star cards.

Well, you can't ask for more from 2 packs of 84 Topps - but you can sure ask for better centering! Oh well, better than getting none of them.

nice pull sidepocket, yes the centering could've been better but you did pull them.

the 88/89 fleer bkb are looking nice. keep posting.

    Thanks,

Nice pulls. The centering on the elway may be the worst I have ever seen. The Marino isn't nearly as bad. I hate when that happens. It is hard enough to pull those cards to begin with and when the centering is an issue that really sucks. I guess it is better then nothing.
