These coins bother me. Maybe if 100% of the proceeds went to the families I would be OK w/it.

I do recognize the historical significance of ground zero artifacts & the need to use them to maintain visceral connections to a event indelibly stamped on America. But the way that is done needs to be extraordinarily respectful - ie. with endorsements from those affected, and to a much higher standard than our usual commercial presentations.

Time has a way of dulling our senses. Today no one would think much of auctioning a Ford's Theatre program from the night Lincoln was shot. A hundred years ago that might have been considered a lot more crass, and capitalizing on tragedy.

Maybe people will think nothing about selling WTC artifacts a hundred years from now. For me it is still way too raw.

I saw the damn plane hit the building. I don't need any reminders. I'm just glad I don't live in NYC anymore.

100% of the proceeds (all the proceeds!) of the 100 limited PCGS NY Firefighters 9-11 slabbed NY quarters went to the families of the NY firefighters. It is the pin on the right that only a portion of the proceeds went to the families of NY firefighters.

We should thank the original PCGS posters who made it all possible to raise over $42,000:

    Here is the original post:

That's MY Post and I Caused the Confusion here. The PCGS Quarter has NOTHING to do with the Pin Displayed Beside it. They were two seperate Issues (both contributing to the cause), and I Only put them Together to Save Space in the Scan and Upload. I Purchased The Pins with my own Money and Gave them away FREE to people. I Never once Sold a Pin for any reason.I Bought Hundreds of Them and I Was Happy to Give them away to Victims Families,Children Left Behind Firefighters,Cops, etc. The Pin Clearly says all it needs to say. I'm sorry some people have an Issue with these Coins, but I Don't. They are now, and forever will be, a Part of American History and World History. I Am just as sensitive to This situation as anyone. My Niece,Jennifer was in Tower ONE when it was hit. Only by the Grace of God did she survive somehow. I Am also a Disabled Viet Nam Vet soo My Love for Country is not a question. These coins hold a Special Place in my Collection and Will be passed down to my Grand Children when I'm gone. Let us All remember 9-11-2001 in anyway we see fit,as long as we "NEVER FORGET".
