Did it get moved somewhere else, anyone know?
Edited title per Renman's suggestion, if GS would rather I didn't and would like to just start his own, just let me know!

"this is it and it is now"
<< <i>It's under review. It seems a lot of posts aren't relating to PM's but the economy in general. >>
sort of hard to discuss PM prices without discussing the underlying factors... like the economy
and where it is headed short term and long term.
i guess we need more posts like this:
gold is yellow.
silver is used in industry.
i have a gold bar, how much is it worth?
take away discussions like goldsaint's thread and this place will be a ghost town shortly.
general market mechanics have upon them?
There has been much valuable information posted on the GS thread by some very astute posters; it would be a shame to lose either the thread or the information it contains; worst case scenario...maybe it can be locked and archived. Additionally, the GS thread has identified trends well ahead of the actual events happening ie. housing crash, PM rise and then the fall, infrastructure stress, banking failures, and many other topics that were fleshed out well before they came to the media. Hopefully, that thread will survive. The interest in that thread, by virtue of the number of posts, is fairly significant. Also, that thread brings many viewers from other forums to the PCGS site that would not normally visit a coin site. It would be interesting to know how many hits that one thread gets on an average day.
We do appreciate the opportunity to have a common forum to discuss our ideas and make our bug world more secure. Thanks for looking in on us, Carol.

Gold is yellow.
Silver is ....
love that one

If someone hears from Carol please PM me.
"me gots" a lot of good viewpoints and directions for my own evaluation from that post, even the disagreements were civil, some humor.
some of the other PM sites are too esoteric for me, this here was my speed, and that thread was real important (IMHO) even if it didn't pertain to coin collecting and PM.

Wasn't "the economy" in the title?

Very true.
<< <i>Methinks maybe someone is dogging this thread. It would be interesting to know who it might be. i thought the answer to people on the US coin forum not liking
it in the least was to move it here....
to zap it now defeats part of the purpose of this new forum about
PMs... and everything that can affect it.
but alas.. i surrender to the moderators. this is not a democracy.
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
As others have stated, I think it was a positive for the forum, and had a lot of interesting and good information and hope it does not go away permanently.
<< <i>guys what is the GoldSaint thread? I'm new and never saw it >>
it was a thread start about 5 years ago on this board to discuss
mostly gold and of course silver/plat. it went through a whole range
of topcs that could affect the outcome of its price.
it had 8000+ posts over that time from so many people with the core
people always keeping it updated with new ideas, information, and
etc...
it was a standard post every newbie to the forum tried to tackle and
any person who finished it came away with a ton of knowledge.
First we're segregated off to our own little penal colony to discuss PM's by ourselves. Now we can't discuss anything that is of real interest. What's next? Not being able to discuss the economy with coin collecting or with PM's leaves little to discuss. Many of us collect or invest with the idea that we could actually makes a return on our interests. If it's pure hobbyists that are wanted, maybe a new forum should be opened up for purists who care nothing about the money they spend or receive for their coins.
I don't see the point in spending any time in CU Forum land if the very thing that drives the prices of coins (ie the economy) is made off-limits.
It would be like having a casino where everyone went and played with monopoly money (no winners and no losers). It wouldn't take long before no one showed up.

lol
i wish i had subscribed to the thread (not the 08/07 through the roof)....i had contact with a few "members" whose sole purpose was to get new postings to the thread, they had no real collecting interest, but stumbled on it, signed up and subscribed. ....some good, very good and thoughtful "stuff" was posted and debated, not all stock charty esoteric stuff.
Maybe you can rename this thread like the Nanney thread was renamed in honor of...
Then we can all just press on.

Of course, we can avidly discuss how gold went up today, and then it went down. But, for the life of me - I have no idea why.....
I knew it would happen.

You're confusing me with all of your code language. What is the forum about?
Ren
Did anyone save the thread. I never did get a chance to read it all.
It'd be nice if Carol gave us a status report. Did it get a little too political because of the election ? If so, maybe they'll repost it after Nov.

Done. If we are careful about being a-political, maybe it won't poof.
I started this thread all these many years ago for two stated purposes. One to help the forum consolidate all the threads that were being posted as individual threads into one, and two to give all of us coin collectors and CLCT shareholders a place to discuss the dramatically changing economy and precious metal situation in the country.
It is my belief that nearly all of the readers and posters to this thread are either coin collectors or CLCT stock holders.
I for one have submitted tens of thousands of dollars worth or coins to the PCGS services, and purchased perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of coins in PCGS holders, and yet I am a small player in this game compared to some I know who post here.
Coin collectors, as well shareholders, of your fine company need a place where we can gather and post our analysis of what is happening in our economy, to our collections, and assets, and where else shall we go?
I respectfully request that we be given back our thread.
It would be like having a casino where everyone went and played with monopoly money (no winners and no losers). It wouldn't take long before no one showed up.

Please consider a slightly looser control over topics. For the most part members here seem to either stay mostly on topic or correct others who stray too far off course.
