Morgan storage question

Hello. I have a question about storing Morgan dollars. I have been looking at all the different Morgan dollar books with all the years and mints. But which one is the best to use. I currently have all my lower end morgans in flips and my upper Morgans and cc's in cases. I will always keep my high end stuff in cases. The books looks like and accident waiting to happen with the open holes. Does the coins hit each other when flipping through the pages. Is there a better way to display Morgans or are books the way to go. Thanks for any help/.

Coin world holders will keep them safe from most accidents.
  • thanks. But I am looking for a nice book that I can dispay my collection. I would hate to have 100 or so individual cases to dig out when I want to show off my collection to friends or family or even when I just want to look at them. But if books are a no-no, I will look into the cases.

You might try Eagle holders. The trouble is the Morgan dollar size holders have very thin boarders, and there is not much room for labels.

Eagle holders are inert and you can get albums that will hold all of the coins. You can also remove the most valuable dates in store them in a safe deposit box for safe keeping. It is a very flexible system.

  • Dansco has nice ones with slides (to keep them in), and you can buy archival slip covers to keep them fairly airtight. Just be careful of the slides putting marks on your coins as you are getting them in or out. I believe on the Morgans, it is two books, due to the number of the dollars.

I think that slide marks pose a MAJOR RISK for Morgan silver dollars. The coins are very thick and it is hard to avoid problems. Albums with slides all pose this problem, but Morgan Dollars carry the biggest risk IMO.

Dansco albums, don't use folders of any kind that are open faced. Just be careful when putting the coins in.
