I think that's the same seller with the 1953 Shilling and Florin for $995 and $2,995. The Shilling is only about 20 times full retail, but the florin has to be pushing 40-50 times. I guess whatever the market will bear. I guess it's time for us to wrap all our coins in some napkins for a few months on the window sill and get rich quick.
  • The seller is/was a member here. Pharmer I believe his name is in this forum. I was once told that he uses ebay as a means to display his collection rather than make an honest attempt to sell the pieces. Hence the unrealistic asking prices.

that sums it up. that coin sold on Teletrade to him for the silly sum of $600, where he put it in his store with the much more outlandish price. His intention is to display, not sell from what i'm told.

That actually makes more sense, although I'm not sure why you wouldn't use something like photobucket just to display them, it's free.

I agree, seems like their is much better venues for displaying a collection for free

  • The Churchill Crown is a common as muck coin. You can buy one for under US$5.

The idiot who wants US$5,000 for one needs to have their head examined.

    Does anyone agree with me?

If they want to display their coins, they should go here or here.

    Aidan.

Your first link is a site with a total of 20 registered users. The second link doesnt even work. Perhaps he has the money, and desire to reach a significantly larger audience. For that he is not an "idiot", but rather maybe just an "eccentric".
  • Eric,
The second link DOES work,as I went there myself. The first link has been underpromoted, which is why there are only 20 members.
