What would you pay for 90% dimes

I have a chance to buy 34 rolls of pre-1964 silver dimes. I don't know what kind of condition they are in, so I have to assume typical G/VG/F junk dimes.

What would you pay for these at the current spot price and at that quantity? 8x? 9x? 10x?

  • 9X face would be a good price for junk. If they're AU/BU condition I might go 10X.

It's your call but 34 rolls for $1,500 would be a good deal to me.

Are you buying from a store or a private individual? Stores in my area charge 10x face value if you buy from them but will give you 7x if you sell to them. If its an individual you could see if they would take 7-8x face value.

since melt is 93 cents each i would lop off 15% of that.

    about 8 times face.
  • I'm sure you could get pre-65 dimes much cheaper. image

it depends....do you think silver will get back to $16-17 soon? are you going to flip or put them away and forget about them?

i'd pay as little as i could

8x would be a good price.

  • Silver is going to go lower than it is today. I would offer 7.5 times face.

You won't get them for less than 9.4X.

wait a few days then and watch silver tank some more.
8 times face today, 7 times face tomorrow.

if dealers buy silver and sell it to a smelter.. how do you expect them
to make money if they buy at spot that day?

the problem with collectors that get involved with buying is that
they do not think like a dealer.

who in their right mind would want to pay 18 dollars for a cull/ugly morgan? oh yea, collectors.... sigh ;-)
