"Apparently there was a large group of coins that a collector sold to Heritage. The story was he got the coins in a bulk roll purchase years ago from a bank in Omaha. Heritage had the coins all slabbed with the notation on the holders as a pedigree. That's about all there is to it.

Just another gimmick to get folks excited." >>
bingo. i also heard they were, in general, overgraded a bit too.
NO, not at all.. you are, perhaps, destroying a dream for some people. That, and another reputed hoard, are really, just another myth in the numismatic annals... Oh yes, many will dispute what I say, however, there is NO traceable, hard evidence to either 'hoard' and a lot of 'promotion' involved... and many, caught with their figurative pants down... will fight to the death defending the myths. Cheers, RickO
<< <i>They also have that reputation of being overgraded, true or not they seem to sell for less than ones without the pedigree.

Most of the Omaha MS65 Franklins I've seen have been either MS64s or dipped out. NGC slabbed a lot of them and I think the Omaha hoard is one of the reasons the gem Franklin series has languished while other series have risen in value the past few years.

Is the other reputed hoard you're refering to the fitzgerald Nevada collection?
No, crack it out! Some history we could do without. They do seem to be slightly overgraded some, at least in the Washingtons, which I look at alot. But I suspect the one you have was probably undergraded. Tony

They are pretty, bright coins. Shiny blast white things, mostly. I think I still have spots on my eye from viewing them last time.
It also helps with my label collection.

in my opinion, for PCGS slabs, there were many, many overgraded coins.
