Followed up the other evening at the newly dug foundation hole for my brothers house addition (old victorian house/yard) the day after a major rain here in upstate NY (seems like all its done this summer). I was a little dissapointed to find the bottom of hole 5 feet down covered with crush and run, but oh well, I had the dirt piles and banks to hunt. Total finds for the muck ridden night- 3 cents, 2 1970's memorials (was really hoping for some indians from this site) and this:
Large old copper, kinda thin- could it be a very worn old large cent...
And then I flipped it over:
A British large cent! What this was doing up here who knows- maybe brought back by a doughboy. Some cleaned up shots:
I might try and dig into the dirt piles tonight again if I get a chance, I keep saying to myself there's got to be more....HH
