    Looks too good to be true, but if the guy faked it, he did an excellent job of using dug-looking coins.

    Seems like he had to know something of the area,,,had his friend dig a a hole 5 feet from his! Then they started finding coins and keys and rings...I am sure many such places are out there...and it would pay to know some history of the area,,,looks to me that it could be where a house once stood on an old farm,,,,I need to get down and hunt mine but it so far away.image

    Usually a privy or trash-pit... or a structure that burned down. The first and third options make the most sense - believe or not, some farmer types would hide money near the privy
