I know of 2 bags of halves and a green monster box that were all bought at lower than $6.00.

All that means is when I sell, I can offset my gains with some recent losses from $21.00 silver, and make things work out so that I have zero tax.

A store of value - yes.

    A speculation - yes.

The smart thing to do - who the heck knows?

Anything that smoeone would dump on the market is fair game.

Total silver production from pre-history till 2001 is estimated by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to have been about 1.26 million metric tons (Mt), one half of which was mined in the last 62 year period."

    1.26 Mt x 32,150.75 ounces/ton = 40.51 billion ounces + 2.46 billion
    (production from 2001-2005) = 42.97 billion ounces

Cumulative Silver Production = 42.97 billion ounces

About one-quarter of the silver I hold was purchased at $3 to $4, long ago.

I wonder what prices will be 30 years from now. It's a very light, ponderful sort of wonder. No worries. I don't trouble myself about it!

Everything I have left was purchased at around $5 an ounce. I did buy 30 ounces when silver was at around 12 dollars an ounce, and sold it when it was at $16.

Folks that bought well above the current spot price will be very reluctant or defacto refuse to sell. However, if the metal continues its downward spiral and holds at a bottom of $8 - $9/oz (or lower) this will shake it out. B&M's and even Internet dealers will be devastated, some irreversibly. The price has plummeted down so fast that it will take a week or so for the impact to sink in...both psychologically and financially.
