My best buy this week

I found this in a 5 for a dollar bin at a local dealer. I love dealers that pay no attention to the darkside. Also picked up an 1876H New Brunswick 1 cent and a 1871 PEI one cent, both in decent shape in the same bin.

<< <i>That's bizarre. >>
I agree - even if a dealer disdains Darkside material, they can usually smell gold a mile away,
must be an apprentice took it in...

<< <i>You suck. >>
Yes. I do. Thanks for noticing.

Plucking gold (even small gold) from a 5/$1 pick bin qualifies, though. Congrats!

<< <i>How could ANY dealer not notice this mistake at the checkout counter? >>
It is not so improbable. It is dated 1955, when the US had removed all gold coinage since 1933. And a gold coin could easily be mistaken for a shiny brass coin from 1955.
Not fishy at all. Just good fortune, in my opinion.

<< <i>I have bought a lot of coins from this type of bin and never once did the dealer check the coins when I paid. >>
I've had the same experience- the dealer just asks "How many?"

Thanks to you, and IloiloKano and mrpotatoheadd, for defending my honour....not sure what I am being accused of, but I bought 50 coins out of a large bin today, and got lucky. Nothing more than that.......

To some dealers all foreign coins (except large silver ones) are just so much junk.
Collecting:
Conder tokens
19th & 20th Century coins from Great Britain and the Realm
and to defend your honor, when I take my daughter to the local shop with me, the dealer lets her pick 10-12 out of the 'junk' bin and usually not only doesn't even look at them, but doesn't even charge me for the coins!

Is the PEI cent in medal or coinage alignment?
