Few cared about them. They were available the whole year, basically. Minted to demand or available credit on your charge card, whichever. Now they are the toast of the town and people are paying 4x issue price??? I am always skeptical of long term investment value of "the next big thing." They are beautiful coins, dont get me wrong. But for 7k i think i could find a better place for my money. Like a decent grade set of buffalo nickels. To me these are reproductions in gold, and I think the hype will eventually bring these coins back to earth.
