One question though,<<I couldn't believe it either! But here it is in Black & White!:

    4.2.3 Ineligible Matter
The following types of mail may not be insured:

    a. Parcels containing matter offered for sale, addressed to prospective purchasers who have not ordered or authorized their sending. If such matter is mailed, payment is not made for loss, rifling, or damage.

    b. Nonmailable matter.

    c. Articles so fragile that they cannot be carried safely in the mail regardless of packaging.

    d. Articles not adequately prepared to withstand normal handling in the mail. As a rule, any mailable package should be insurable.

    e. Mail not bearing the complete names and addresses of the sender and addressee.

    f. Standard Mail letters, flats, and NFMs.

    g. Matter mailed at First-Class Mail prices (including Priority Mail) that consists of items described in 123.3.0, Content Standards for Priority Mail; 133.3.0, Content Standards; 233.2.0, Content Standards for First-Class Mail Letters; 333.2.0, Content Standards for First-Class Mail Flats; and 433.2.0, Content Standards for First-Class Mail Parcels, and required to be mailed at First-Class Mail prices. >>

I hate to bust someones bubble mailer. But I had a long chat with my postal master at my local Post office, he told me if I insure my package the correct way and it is seal tightly with proper restricted delivery sig and postage for weight. I will receive a refund for any package I insure, bubble mailer, priorty mailer so on. Just needed to say this.

In the long run I think it is really up to your postal office and who's in charge. Also did you know ppstal master get a bonus on how many packages are insured and all of the extra fees people pay? Just another tidbit for you vets.

Not true ... bubble mailers qualify for insurance.
Bubble mailers cannot be used for registered mail envelopes.

So, are you gonna make Paypal beg and squirm? You got the coin back and the $$ in an untouchable account, are you going to make them ask very nicely for "their" money back?

Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

<< <i>Just got the Coin back from Dallas Post Office from the Form 1509 Action. Great ending, thanks to USPS! Now, if only PayPal would respond to my information.....whelp, its only been 8 days...image >>

A buyer filed a "not recieved" on a coin I sold them on July 14 (bought July 2, mailed July 3, probably delayed by the holiday). Paypal froze the money immediately. Coin showed up on the 15th and he informed paypal of that. Still no action. Money still frozen. I wonder if they'll be more responsive when you've got their money instead of vice versa. In my case this is just a small sale (less than $250). If it was a big one I might be less patient with them--but it probably wouldn't help. --Jerry

<< <i>Hang on, so if I insure something in a yellow bubble mailer, it won't be covered? That's jacked up and senseless.

Have you ever had an insurance claim for a loss denied because you used a bubble mailer?

Nothing is fool-proof when selling on Ebay, but this thread can offer some good rules of thumb.

Seven years later, it is still relevant, IMHO.

Scams don't only occur on Ebay.
    Unfortunately, it also happens here
    on the forum !!! :-(

  • That is true but if something does happen here on the forum you will usually get some help right away. Also scams happen here very rarely so the BST is still one of the safest places to buy coins sight unseen. We are a many varied community full of old grumps, grumps in general, nice guys, bullies, and some really great people so all i all a good place to be if you can deal with it.

Did they get out of jail since 2008?
  • Both Ebay and Pay Pal claim that any seller is protected as long as he ships to the verified address. I have had thousands of customer transactions using both companies and have yet to experience even a single problem.

Sorry, but I do not see mention of a "bubble mailer" in the postal regulations.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
