If the Phillies don't get in, "Everybody" will be rooting for the Cubs to win anyway, and they do look tough to stop right now. Even most New Yorkers will be rooting for the Cubs as last time there was a poll, it was determined there were less than 10 Mets fans in all of New York.

Mets couldn't hold, what was it about a 7 game lead around this time last year - those mercenaries surely aren't going to hold on to a small lead - they've got no heart, no character, and no desire to win a championship.

I haven't been to Shea since 1964. I still have the program and the yearbook - wish I would've kept the ticket as well but of course my Dad bought the tickets and didn't save them. If I'm remembering right, Hawk Taylor hit two home runs that day which in any game is memorable when you're there, but especially for the Mets which lacked offense then.
As I'm sure you know, that was also the year Shea opened. The bathrooms may not be as nice as you remember them, LOL!

I thought maybe I remembered it wrong because I looked up Hawk Taylor and he had only 16 career HR's - LOL. But there it is...he hit two that day.
But one thing I do remember quite well...I'll give you one guess what happened the next day...a history making event at Shea, and just our luck we decided to go to the Saturday game instead of on Sunday for some reason.

Come on now...a little better than that...It was a Perfect Game.
Frankly, if I had any brains I would just lie and say I was there when Bunning pitched his Perfect Game, like so many sports fans do.....What is it like "500,000" fans say they were there at Belmont when Secretariat won the Triple Crown? LOL
I just want to know what happened to Stalin...he's posting over "on the other side" veryu politely and professionally and signing his name Kevin instead of BAM...
I can't get over how well the Mets have played since Randolph got the ax...this might be one of the biggest turnarounds a team has experienced after getting rid of their manager. Randolph truly was THAT bad..

LOL

<< <i>It ain't over 'til it's over. >>
But admittedly, the "trends" do not look so good right now.
3 game set with the Sillies could wrap it up.
lol
BAM

I can't get over how well the Mets have played since Randolph got the ax...this might be one of the biggest turnarounds a team has experienced after getting rid of their manager. Randolph truly was THAT bad..
