<< <i>time to buy was last year. time to sell is now. >>
I thought so too, and I sold my one refractor a little too early...i think they will keep going up, especially if he does anything in the all star game. I am sure the media will talk him up, and if he does anything they could potentially double.
I bought an ichiro ultimate rookie auto for around $1500 before last all star game, and when he got the first ever in-the-park hr in the all star game, and went 4 for 4, i knew i had to sell it then, and made over $1000.
Sometimes you think it is time to sell, when there is still money to be made....but don't wait too long....
Yes I do agree that the time to sell would be now, but this is not a random half seaon fluke. This guy is going to be good for a long time I can tell. Yes it is a risk but this guy could very well be an MVP winner if not this year, then one down the road

Hamilton spiked bigtime in the Spring of 2007 when he was in the Reds camp after overcoming his demons. The time to buy was about 3 years ago, just before he returned after rehabbing his substance abuse and getting religion.
I would pass on his cards. He got such a late start that even if he puts up similar numbers for the next 10-15 years, he will probably still fall short of HOF caliber stats. This means his cards will bottom out very nicely.
He's got an incredible story, thus the reason he led the AS votes this year, even though he plays for the Rangers. I think he certainly has potential to put up HOFers. Why so many downers on here? All the crappy stories over the past few years, let's be glad we've got one guy to really root for.
Atlanta Braves, Charlotte Hornets, Shawn Kemp, Dale Murphy, and Bobby Engram.
The guy is 27 years old, and has only played 181 career games. A total of 40 homeruns and 140 RBI in his career. Call me crazy, but why is HOF even mentioned at this point?
When a person can turn from drug addiction, get saved, and become a success, I am all for them. A great life story, but this is only 1 season.
Yes it is a wonderful story and he also plays for my team that has lacked this kind of player since Nolan Ryan. He actually makes me want to watch every game. HOFer may be out of reach but I still think the cards would be a special thing to have.
Not comparing them with their personal problems but the way they play the game. Nolan Ryan made me want to watch the Rangers play as does Josh Hamilton. I have waited a long time for this guy but don't be surprised if Hicks trades him away like he did with Cy Young candidate Esteban Loaiza, Pudge, Tex, Kenny Rodgers, ect. Dont forget who we picked up, Chan Ho Park, man what a player.
the problem with the rangers is never their offense. they havent had a legitimate top tier pitcher in a good long time. (and Loiaza had what 1-2 decent years, so he doesnt count lol)
good point ya we have had some of the best hitters. Almost every year we have more HRs than any other team but our pitching always fails. Our pictching is looking pretty decent this year but our hitting and defense is outstanding.
I hate that I haev something in common with Aragorn as far as the Rangers are concerned. Only got to go to one game this year but had the chance for a quick 2 minute generic shoot the breeze conversation. Really nice guy. Very level headed now from my impression.
forget the story...forget the stats...the amazing thing about hamilton is the fact that after plaYing around 170 games in his career the PLAYERS seem to think hes already the best player in the game(according to the last 2 polls ive read)...not the writers, broadcasters or computer geeks like us...THE PLAYERS.....THATS GOT TO MEAN SOMETHING,PEOPLE.........wisecracks to follow,im sure
JOSH has also decided to go after some of rickey hendersons records, as he has stolen a base in 3 straight games...rumor has it that he has asked the manager if he could be used as the closer in an upcoming game.... his fastball has been clocked at 97 mph(no joke)
Why is Hamilton a wonderful story? Not disagreeing that he is extremely talented at baseball but to listen to the media praise him kinda makes me sick. We should be praising the true hero's, the one's who do the right thing, who work hard, and are true role models. I am glad he got his life in order and things seem to be on the right track for now but the guy spent many years doing everything wrong. Reading some of these posts and to listening to TV it almost comes off as if someone like Pujols would be more popular if he spent his first couple years in a crack house as opposed to working hard in the minors. And to those of you thinking of gambling high dollars on his rookie card, please research Steve Howe, Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, or many other examples. The risk of him sliding back into drugs is many times higher than him making the HOF.

It is a great story because he did make mistakes and turned his life around. None of us on here are perfect. We all make mistakes. Some worse than others. The guy hit rock bottom but showed that no matter how low you fall, you can get off the floor and make something of your life. It is human nature to sin. Not a single human adult has lived a sin free life. His demons might be different than my demons but we all have them. I'm glad to see he has overcome them so far. I pray that he keeps putting first what he needs to put first.

I think anyone that is able to turn their life around is worthy of praise. I agree that he may slide back, but i certainly hope not. GOOD FOR YOU JOSH!
Hamilton made his long-awaited Major League debut on April 2 against the Chicago Cubs in a pinch-hit appearance, receiving a 22-second standing ovation. As he was waiting to bat, Cubs catcher Michael Barrett said "'You deserve it, Josh. Take it all in, brother. I'm happy for you."
<< <i> don't be surprised if Hicks trades him away like he did with Cy Young candidate Esteban Loaiza, Pudge, Tex, Kenny Rodgers, ect. Dont forget who we picked up, Chan Ho Park, man what a player. >>
You're crazy.
Loaiza is horrible and had one good season plus you got Michael Young (one of the most underrated players in baseball) in that trade, Pudge and Kenny weren't traded (free agent signing), plus you guys probably got the better half of the Tex deal since you all got Salty, Beau Jones, Harrison, and most importantly Andrus (superstud).
Park was pretty bad (on Texas) and the money that you guys gave him was ridiculous, but considering the years that he had with the Dodgers prior to that you honestly can't blame the Rangers at all. The guy was dominant.
Hamilton's speeches last for more than an hour, and he tells the crowds that, yes, he could have died and, yes, he was ready to give up baseball if that's what it took to get back with his wife and kids. He always recites the scripture that got him through last year, James 4:7. Humble yourself before God. Resist the devil and he'll flee from you. He stays as long as it takes to answer every question, to meet everyone who stays afterward, to hug the last straggler. "It's my privilege to tell my story," he says. "I never get tired of telling it. I know just how fortunate I am."
Goot I suggest you watch a few Ranger games including this last one. This sums up Michael Young' season even though he is improving. He is the highest paid field player on the team so I do not think he is the most overrated.
He just blew Josh Hamilton's chance to get 100 RBI's before the All Star break by swinging at a ball that couldn't reach in his dreams.
