Ahh, a reference to colonial Bostonians! Though that was not a very flattering one.
These are the same colonials who took the rest of the colonies on their shoulders and basically said, "Follow us!"
They had smarts and they had balls! Some of the greatest men of our country came from there. They WERE the revolution, from the modest farmers, up to the good Dr. Warren!
I think we all owe them a big thanks, for they were the engine for Independence. They basically had to b$#@slap some of the Pennsyvlania delegates to get them on board and to stop being such vagina's. Ben Franklin was the exception, though it is no wonder that Boston was his adopted hometown.
Very nice post Skin' your knowledge and respect of early New England is much appreaciated! However FanOf390 is not interested in a history lesson as he likes to go through life being ignorant.
this is going to sound bad, but you're telling me to get a life and you have something about a sports teams written on your gravestone?
yeow. your priorities must be seriously eff'd >>
Yes you idiot, because it's my gravestone...I'm writing this from the beyond. Why not read your posts before posting them in threads where you are obviously in way over your head >>
Perkdog, there's no need to insult George Brett just because of 'fan of 390's stupid post. There is a need to insult the poster however. Fan of 390, please get rid of your Brett avatar, he doesn't need scum like you as a fan. Your anti Boston post was pathetic, you must be a real loser.

Your 100% right, no disrespect to George Brett it is all directed towards 'fanof390'
Perkdog, no problem. I hope Ramon Ramirez pitches as well for the Sox as he did for KC this year. KC when ahead usually brought him in for the eighth inning to set up Soria for the ninth. When KC was losing he usually pitched a couple innings when Trey used him. He was pretty consistent, only got hit hard a few times. Hope he does well in Boston.

Honestly, I had no clue about him and the first thing I said when I heard of the trade was "Who?" after researching a little bit I am pretty happy about him coming to Boston- especially if it is to replace Timlin!
Enjoy Coco's vast range in the outfield and his decent bat, unfortunately I dont believe he will ever reach the high expectations of him like when he was in Cleveland but he definately has value and should serve you guys well.
Edit-Thank You for the well wishes and right back atcha
I think it is sad that most of America knows very little about the heroes of colonial Boston and America. Some of the men are known, but hardly anybody has heard of Joseph Warren. He made the ultimate sacrifice, and he was a well-off doctor who didn't have to.
For those who don't know, Warren died on the front lines in the battle of Bunker Hill.
The thing about the Bunker Hill battle was that just a few days before the battle he was chose as a Major General by Congress. As the battle raged, his commission had not yet taken effect. The current commanders, Prescott and Putnam, told Warren that they were ready to take orders from him(since he had just been appointed General, even though it had not taken affect yet). Warren told them that he came as a volunteer, and that his services were at THEIR disposal! Selfless and for the cause, to say the least! That could have been an easy power trip.
Upons his arrival, he was give loud cheers by the starving and tired soldiers. He stayed fighting until the very end of the battle when all the powder had run out for the Americans, when the British finally made their charge (after twice being repulsed with 5x the casualties as the Americans). Warren was one of the LAST MEN to stay! He was shot through the head with a musket ball at the very end of the battle. The British treated his body with great disrespect. British appointed Gage felt his death was worth that of 500 soldiers.
Warren was also the guy who gave Paul Revere his instructions for his famous midnight ride. When Warren heard of the British march on Lexington, he immediately left to help. He was almost killed in that battle when a bullet went through his hat.
Nobody has heard of him either. Maybe because he died so early in the war he didn't receive the same accolades as Sam and John Adams, or George Washington, or Thomas Jefferson. Make no mistake, he was jsut as important as all of them, and probably more so in getting the whole revolution off the ground to begin with.
Skin, I too never heard of Joseph Warren. Thank you for another great post on Colonial New England, I am very thankful to all the farmers, blacksmiths ect.. who stood up to oppression by the British and helped make this country what it is today.
We can look even past the Revolutionary war and find that this great country is made up of millions of heroes from Massachusetts across to California and every state in between who gave their lives defending the United States, I believe in WW2 we lost 400K +? another ghastly amount in the forgoten war Korea and other wars that our men and women fought in. Unlike Fanof390 I will never generalize a state in this country and look bad at the inhabitants like an ignorant fool, especially out of jealousy over sports teams! I hate the New York Yankees, Giants, Jets and Bills but I certainly dont harbor hatred and ignorance towards people of that state over it!
Boston is called the Cradle of Liberty for a reason, isn't it? And it's fascinating that this whole Boston/New York rivalry goes back to the days of the colonies. See, Boston was one of the big patriot towns while New York was more a loyalist town. So much so in fact that after the war, some New Yorkers actually moved to Canada (which would still be under British control until 1863).
i htink only the Celtics should be good the rest in the dumper.

"... Bostonians are the product of in-breeding ..."
It is a biological fact that in-breeding results in deficiencies in the offspring. It is an historical fact that the original colonists married and had kids -- and their kids had kids, etc. The farther you got from "New England" (as the colonists spread out, moved west, etc), the less and less likely it was that you married a blood relative. Sooooo, if you stayed around the area that is now Boston, your offspring were subject to in-breeding "problems". [See the movie called "Deliverance" for a dramatization of the "problems" resulting from years of in-breeding in "the backwoods".]
