DO's and DON'Ts of selling vintage sets on ebay.....help

I managed to pick up a few vintage baseball sets. 1970 Topps, 1971 Topps, 1972 Topps, 1979-82 Topps and 84 & 85 Topps Sets.

The 70, 71, 72 don't really have any cards worth grading, but they are not all creased and rounded. The commons and semis are mostly stronger than the bigger stars. Most of the star cards have wear or creases, but display well. The 3 vintage sets are in binders and display well.

So what should I put in the titles? What is the best way to show the overall condition of the sets?
I thought about scanning the 15 highest value cards for each set, even though they are generaly lower grade than the set. Then maybe scanning maybe every 10th page or so to show general condition.

So please school me on the best way to do this and keep from having a disapointed buyer, I want to avoid any potential returns for fear of switching out cards.

grade range vg-nm, mostly ex etc, then scan the big dawgs along with the best commons

or if u have time on your ands 20%ex-40%exmt etc (this way always seems to do better regaurdless of the grades, just time consuming)

Call them mint and show fuzzy scans. Make sure you say no refunds in the listing as well.

And charge $40 for shipping and send them in a PWE...

That would be one huge PWE.

Allen, I would definately undergrade the sets to start with. Sets do really well on ebay as long as there are some good scans. Show off the best commons and all major stars.

The sad thing is that there is a major chance that no matter how you list this if they use Paypal you will get it returned or a chargeback due to an unhappy bidder who was just looking to see if you missed something.

If possible get a phone number of the buyer in case it goes south.

  • I would say it all has to do with how much time that you have. Obviously the more detailed the pics and descriptions, the better it will sell (at least that's the general rule). I would just try and be as detailed as possible for the time that you can commit to each auction.
