New Purchase 1917-D Ty2 Quarter

1946Hamm1946Hamm Posts: 793 ✭✭✭✭✭
I bought this one because of the strike. Type 2 quarters struck like this are hard to find. I paid too much for it but have not seen this date struck like this very often.
Comments welcome and lets see some of your TY2 17-D's.
Thanks for looking.

  • All the toes are showing, complete Shield & Face... I like it! Surface is a tad dull but that could just be the photo.

    Congrats!

I agree. The OP's coin does have a cleaned look to it. Gary, is that in an NCS holder? Any holder? I agree the strike is quite good, although the head lacks definition of what I'd consider a full head.

It does have a cleaned appearance, but it also has nice detail. The head has that almost FH look that I prefer, because a true FH means FH prices!

  • Anyone want to hazard a guess on the grade on mine?

The coin is in a NCS holder and was from Heritage. AU details cleaned. The cleaning is not that harsh to me but definately cleaned.
I have seen many high grade (65-67's) that don't have the detail this one has.

Yes, the detail is far above average for that date. Despite the cleaning, it is a very impressive coin.
