Stocked Safe Dep Box today

Just put a bunch of coins in my SDB today. 45 slabs (mostly Morgans), 1oZ gold bullion coin and 20oz of silver bullion. Will sleep better tonight knowing they are safely tucked away. I still have my Lincolns and Franklins in the safe though. I decided to split things up so its not all in one place. Curious as to what other collectors do as far as splitting things up. Would appreciate comments.

I've thought about splitting up my gold from some of the other stuff. Only problem is, Washington Mutual does not carry safety deposit boxes at my branch. I would have to drive about 40 minutes to get to the closest branch that has them. My wifes bank has them but she forget's to ask about them anytime she's in the bank.

Why split them up? What are the chances of someone breaking in to your SDB?

At home if someone holds a gun to you asking you to open the safe, I would rather it just has documents.

I split them because I like to have some coins at home to look at. The bank is only 1 mile away but still not convenient for viewing. It was difficult for me to decide which coins to put at the bank and which to keep at home.

I keep what I am working on at home and have insurance that covers both places.
The observation on the "public" viewing area is a concern I have as well.

Not sure what you mean by "public viewing". Are you referring to people reading these boards?

Anything of value goes in the box. If I had a safe I'd deny it and would STILL keep everything in the box.

I have some very inexpensive collections that I keep in my home.

I'd rather it have a box of Chinese fake slabbed bust dollars! You don't want robbers going away angry, specially when they have guns.

All my coins do not fit in the SDB so, logically, I keep the most valuable ones at the bank.
