Don't waste your money slabbing britannias with ICG

Don't waste your money slabbing britannias with ICG! eBay link

Not that it would have occurred to me to do so, but whomever slabbed this britannia at ICG probably lost a fair bit of money, despite getting a grade of ICG "MS69".

Go out and get your silver britannias slabbed at NGC or PCGS, then sell me your MS69 2007s and 2008s! image

How can anyone possible tell the grade of the coin from those images? I think the images, not the TPG, is what caused the low closing bid. But then again, a lot of people buy the holder and not the coin.

While the Britannias I have are PCGS graded ... not all of us necessarily like PCGS brand Kool-Aid. Especially considering the craptacular grades being handed out by PCGS as of late.

What are you paying for MS69s?

One e-bay auction could be used to prove any grading service is a waste of money - or a great benefit.
The pictures are probably what hurt this one the most.

There are no ms69 on the pcgs Population report for 2007 or 2008 . Looks like someone needs to make a few.

The possibility exists that there are some graded at NGC, as they haven't bothered to update their britannia pops since 2005.

I don't think that the pics were the only problem with this auction. I've been tracking auction sales of slabbed silver britannias since 2006 and that was the lowest price I've seen on that date, ever, by a fair margin.

Just got back a couple of later Britannia's from NGC, threw them in with a bunch of other stuff. Came back MS63's, didn't look at the cheek.
