Is this date one that is notorious for a soft strike??? And do most of the them look AUish? But to the expert eyes of Washington obsessed collectors like Hyperion it is easy to recognize??? image

MS-64 or MS-65. Looks like the beginning of mottled toning.

"-S" is for soft strike. In my newbie opinion, when something has zero real wear it's a soft strike, except for a couple ticks...

no luster breaks, tho I defer to the washie-experts here. I can be corrected !

    My guess was MS63.

I can understand that opinion from the pics... this is an in-hander... motted toning masks the surface quality, anyways.... it's resting at peace in my dansco, tho Im sure it can be really argued this is NOT a crackout coin

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

second 2 shots are of the same coin SANS holder, au naturel (natural?)

Interesting! I wonder what it would grade today, if you sent it back in?

That is not a soft strike. That is exactly what a Washington quarter was supposed to look like off the dies. It looks like an MS65 or MS66 with original skin.

tough to tell from the image...

the coin appears hazy with subdued luster which would probably keep it from GEM status...

    I say MS64..

this is an expert to whom I defer image I was thinking of the perceived flatness in the curl by the ear

    Weak strike no luster MS64.
