Yes, I have returned a few and have so far have always got my refund. Make sure who you buy from on eBay has a refund policy and follow their guidelines if you are not happy with your purchase.
Yes on return. Yes on money back. And I even got postive feedback on the transaction. And the seller got his listing fees back. A mistake in the listing and the seller did not even realize it until I cantaced him.
I have returned several raw coins that had problems not listed or pictured and always rec'vd refund(never pd. restocking=BS fee) Never returned a slabbed coin.I currently have 100% positive feedback and have never left a negative either.I usually leave a positive and state,"good return policy"for coins that I have returned.
Yes and Yes. One time and I felt lucky seller agreed to the return as it was almost 60 days after the sale. I had submitted the gold coin for certification to PCGS and it was BB'd as not genuine. Seller was initially uncooperative, but through discussions, not threats, he agreed to refund my money.
Yes to both, a few times. Some out and out fraud on one, and one seller took "restocking fees" after I attributed the piece as an AU Top 100.... He advertised it as Unc and I no longer even look at his auctions.
yes and yes. over the years maybe 30 times never any issues.
But that will soon be ending.
I had to return 4 of the last 7 coins won or bought because of non disclosed issues, (very obvious in hand), pictures taken to hide problems, ommissions on descriptions.
Granted these have been raw coins but the stuff out there today is really the GARBAGE that the BS dealers are trying to unload.
Yes these were all from big sellers and there was never any pushback, on the refund probably because they knew they were WRONG.
I will warn the dealers now block me if you aren't honest and fair. No more MR nice guy on the feedback.
No, but probably should have a couple of times. Most of my buys were not very high dollar, so returning was more hassle than keeping the darn thing!!

Yes & Yes .. In addition, I filed a total of 3 PayPal claims in the last 8 years for non receipt of mds (Sellers choose to ignore my emails) w/o any delays in having my $ refunded.

Never returned a coin. Returned a computer CPU that didnt work back when I was still new on eBay. Made the mistake of not adding delivery confirmation to the return and never saw a cent of it.
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.
You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.
Yes about 4 or 5 raw coins with varying degrees of shmutz (bent, whizzed etc) related to them but never a problem with refunds. There was one Red Label PCI I wanted to return (way worse than his pix) but he told me to pound sand, then he reconsidered and said he'd honor a "no question return" but I figured I'd never see the money back so I assimilated it into the Dansco. eBay Rocks!
We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.
Usually. A couple yrs ago I returned some doctored coins....(whizzing, filed rims and AT) and the seller did not return my $$. He had the gall to resell the coins without disclosing the problems and still kept my $$. Anyway, he tendered his guilty plea in Federal Court last month and I await the order of restitution.
I am loathe to return coins unless there is gross misrepresentation. Simply paying too much is generally not enough for me to back out of a deal. I also usually will share my opinions on the coin and contrast that with the seller's description. Politeness is key, IMO.
But, for sellers like Rafael Rios out of Ridgeville MS, I have no problem alerting the Feds. (Actually I had good company as the "victim list" had 30 or so of us on it.)
Yes, I have. A real problem with their description of "full red" and what I believe the standard is. Finally received a real nice raw 1879 Indian Cent this week (see my recent posting!!). I have had no problem getting the refund but I also have been notifying them the day I get it that it's coming back. One coin wouldn't have even made red-brown!! Amazing!!
yes and yes. the coin was sold as a 1869P but in reality it was an 1869S. you had to know what you were doing to see the mint mark. the person selling the coin was not a coin collector. big difference in price.
So far my only bad experience on eBay is packages not showing up, lost in the mail, and this was after the delivery person left the delivery attempt slip in my mil box! Freaking crooks.
thestig, on your last point below, if I understand you right, the seller filed for a Final Value Fee (FVF) credit, which is the normal thing to do after refunding a return. He then gets his fee back and can relist.

I did, I got some coins from an ANA member, it was a fixed price auction with a return policy.
When I received the coins they didn't meet the description based on my opinion, they were raw coins.
The dealer had the nerve to ask ebay for a charge back for his listing fees, Is that right? >>
Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.
Tried but the seller refused the insured package. Yes I let him know it was on the way back. Money back.....Ha Ha. One of the employees is a member here and was not with them when this happened.
Net gain for the deal was.....A AU coin that was suppose to be MS64 and the enjoyment of paying postage twice. Cool deal.
Yes, and yes. None of them were very big ticket items (<$20) but I never had a problem - return accepted, refund issued every time.

Yep. But only after a veiled threat of a CC chargeback when it was obvious that the item was deliberately misrepresented.

Seller was a nervous young girl who truly knew nothing about coins.
I sent them back in flips with typed description of each coin.
She had put the $.50 Columbian Expo coins in separate folded white envelopes....that was my first clue I had a problem.
She was most thankful and honest to the core.
All and all, a good experience as she refunded the shipping also.

IIRC, only had two returns but they were both on the expensive side.

Bought a Bust Half that was advertised MS and got a cleaned VF.
No problems with the return or getting my $$$ back.

And I have also been burned on poor images with no return policy...My fault all the way. I thought I was scoring, but should have known better.

Received Refund - Yes in all cases
I make it a point to only buy if the seller allows returns. When I sell I offer a "no questions asked" 7 day return policy.

Of course it is right, the deal never happened so basically If I sold you a coin and you didn't like it I shouldn't have to pay the EBAY giant money.
