ICG holders with with black casing enclosed?
Anyone know how long ICG slabs with black casing inside the slab surrounding the coin have been around?

So you can still request these or are you saying these were from early ICG slabs?
Sorry I do not have pics but purchased a dozen coins from the Del Mar sale of mexican gold today at Goldbergs auction.
The pictures online do not do justice to the coins and don't show the slab.
Many were prooflike and I was just wondering how old the slabs might be.

Just like the PCGS OGH's they were more conservatively graded...
The black holder looks nice with gold, but wreaks havoc on coin photography (focus)
Also, if a coin is thinner than the black insert, you can see the inside of the intercept shield (and makes it look cheap)
I think it looks cheesey and make the slab really light for small coins.
