Assuming this is authentic and original, how do you like this for $127.50?

Sorry, don't like it much. Looks cleaned and abused (assuming it is even genuine).

It's obviously circulated but there's no dirt. Cleaned. Unless that is one lousy scan.

Cleaned, but probably not too bad for $127.50...if it's real.

It's anything but original. Can't determine authenticity from those pics so assume it's fake until proven otherwise.

I have to say, that style of holder is a give away that something is not right. They were popular for about a sec in the late 80-90s and then it was found the foam brakes down and sticks to the coin causing damage to the coin like pvc. A coin in a holder like that hasn't seen a real dealer or collector in many years if ever??????????

that ebay seller raises a lot of my flags in terms of "danger crook", Take your coin to a Dealer a see what he says... and buy your next trade dollar from him.

It happens to most of us. Not a big deal at all. If nothing else, you've learned a valuable lesson which is always a good thing. Trade Dollars just the king of fakes on eBay...gotta buy one in plastic IMHO.

Dealers are rarely the cheapest or best deal, but they are the best place to learn and the good ones are the safest deal.

The image is poor enough that even though it looks like it isn't real, I honestly could not tell you if it is fake or not. Regardless, the piece appears to have been abused to heck and I would not throw $127.50 toward it to have in my collection. I realize you are newer to coins, but you don't need to have years of experience to learn to stay away from auctions that charge a 10% restocking fee. That is simply ridiculous.

Can't tell from the photos if it is authentic or abused. Poor photos are inexcuseable in this day and age, and reek of ripoff. 10% restocking fee? Let it slide.

If authenic and certifiable, then the price is right, but those are big IFS, from a person who bangs you for placing it back on sale for the next buyer.

Cannot say from the photograph... sounds like a high price for a non-slabbed Trade Dollar though. Cheers, RickO

I realize it's a bad picture but I really don't like the coin.

    Looks cleaned/overdipped to me.

A slab. If you don't know what you are looking at or don't know from whom you are buying, you need a reputable TPG opinion.

What happened to TDN, anyway? Haven't seen him around here in while.
  • I don't know how to tell fake Trade Dollars from real ones assuming there is nothing obvious. However this one looks funny to me - more funny than just being cleaned. I'd pay the restocking fee rather than keep it. Do you have the coin in hand? If not perhaps you can save on shipping...
